  1. Greetings pals.....

ENOUGH! .....with the nuances loaded with unfair as well as unneccessary inuendo.....for we are HOUSTONIANS, and we are much better than this.....

SO MUCH FOR THE PERILS OF THE BIG CITY...... and with Houston being without a doubt the fourth largest city within this grand union of states....... then it has become high time that we start looking at precarious situations of this nature with a bit more objectivity. First off, please allow us the opportunity to glance at the current situation circling the City of N. O. at this historical point in time...... a very very southern U.S. port city loaded with a very large majority of displaced minority citizens, that currently in some very distinct areas looks like a subdivision of war torn Iraq. Second, have we....as in the posters upon this great HAIF website, really been paying attention to the current goings on within the City of NO lately? Have any of you been noticing some of the current headlines coming forth from various news outlets, blogs, segments, etc...etc.... well I can honestly assure you that they have been quite challenging indeed .....BODIES STILL BEING FOUND IN MANY AREAS......STRESSED OUT MAYOR LOOSING HIS MIND......FEMA REFUSING TO EXTEND HOTEL STAYS......N.O. POLICE STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH CITIZENS AND VICE VERSA.....CERTAIN NEIGHBORHOODS ARE GETTING PRIORITY EVERYTHING OVER OTHERS......now you get the current picture/status quo.....

SO WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT! Of course, in precarious/bitter times like these there will always be the obligatory outburst spewing forth from a few very tired and disoriented community leaders that very soon enough shall come forth with the obligatory apologies......now you all know that I am correct upon this, now don't you.....

....now great pals, let us all stop and take a very deep TEXAS SIZE BREATH....... and just relax for a moment. We have been living with quite a few of our neighbors from N.O. for quite a few months now.....most of them are starting to become content with their new and improved lives thanks to the very generosity of Houstonians and our city and state governments.....and believe me they are happy, as they are striving and starting to allow the past to become a distant albeit historical memory within their new lives......but there are others that just are as thankful to Houston and the state of Texas, but they just want to go home and live for who they are, and for what they have always loved.......and many of these aforementioned have become extremely hypercritical at the state of affairs within their former city and it's officials, and of course we know this.....marches upon Washington, extremely critical statements directed to the N.O. city council, as well as certain elected officials for the unique and profound manner matters are being focused upon within their city.....as well as the very uncaring nature of state and government officials who seem to never have an answer for these distinct citizens regarding their lives and well being.....

SO BEFORE WE GO FORTH AND START REACTING OUT OF CHARACTER.....involving the very latest extremeties coming forth from N. O......... just remember who we are......we are TEXANS! We are accustomed to looking far beyond the open horizon. For in the very end, it has indeed been stated, "FOR THIS TOO SHALL COME TO PASS"........

  2. Geez. They already changed the name of the team for them. Now lets make sure they can get there via public transportation.

Maybe we should just give them limo rides to the game instead.

....now, now, Midtown Coog........where are't thou KINDLER, GENTLER attitude....... ;)

  3. I care more about the new stadium than I do the name. If it's just the same style soccer stadium as everyone else in America, I'm not so sure I'd support the team anymore. We should set the standard, not follow it.

Regardless if it's Houston 1836 or not, the team's full of mad talent. I just don't understand how 1836 was an offensive year

    Greetings DJ....

Can't you just imagine? "1836" had to be the MOST OFFENSIVE YEAR TO DATE! Especially if you are General Santa Anna and his renowned army of sleepyheads.......

Hey great pal, if I were you I would not be to overly concerned regarding the prospective MLS stadium.......simply because we all know that it will eventually come down to sponsorship, which in the very end means $MONEY$. I am most certain that after this preposterous naming flap, that Oliver Luck is going to do everything that he possibly can to insure that the new Houston franchise will have a first rate as well as very innovative facility. For can you just imagine the overall embarrassment throughout MLS that this naming situation is costing him.......

My only hope is that it is built downtown or in the midtown regions of Houston, so that the best fans(who very often may not have a lot of money) will indeed have instant access via light rail/public transportation etc...

  4. If the name is changed, there's no way I'll vote for Sylvia Garcia in another election. Houston 1836's name was not at all named with anyone else in mind except Houston's past. I didn't like the name at first, but when I first heard what the name meant, I thought it was great, because I can't think of many cities in America that can claim to have the history that we have.

I do have one thing unpolitically correct to say. I spent the entire Summer of 1999 in Guadalajara, Mexico. Can't wait to go back. But from what I learned from some of my best friend's relatives was that, according to them, it's not taught in most schools in Mexico that Texas won it's independence from Mexico. They told me that they were taught that Texas was BOUGHT by the United States. It started a small debate that night, but it wasn't too big a deal at the time. If that statement was true (that Texas being bought was taught at their school), maybe the 1836 naming debate makes somewhat sense. I was always taught that Sam Houston's undermanned Army defeated Santa Anna at San Jacinto. I even had a Texas History class in 7th grade. I guarantee that Mexico, the rest of the US, and the whole world for that matter, don't have a Texas History class in their curiculum.

What if...again....what if, Mexico's public schools and public schools in Texas are teaching two different things about Texas's history? Us Americans always are taught that we never lost a war. What if Mexico and all the countries in the world also teach their kids that they never lost a war either? We should be proud of having Houston 1836 as a team name, but what if there are some people out there that are not ready to except the fact that Texas won it's independance? Wasn't there an uproar when the Disney movie "The Alamo" came out, because they showed at the end that Sam Houston won at San Jacinto? Why was that? Why is the subject of independance offensive to anyone?

I'll give another example of politically incorrect. The United States Soccer team is now within the top 10 ranked teams in soccer. But if we defeat anyone in a soccer match, are we recognized as a great team, or is the opposing team recognized as having an off day? Case in point, World Cup 2002. We made the quarterfinals, and STILL got no respect from the world.

    Greetings DJ....

Are you certain that your best friends relatives were not confusing Texas with the "Great Louisiana Land Purchase from the French"?

As constantly corrupt as the Mexican government is and has always been, it is not surprising to hear this startling yet typical series of events. For can you imagine if it were true...........for if so, then Mexico would certainly be rich enough to not be so impoverished.......and their citizens would not have to constantly risk life and limb trying to escape into the United States for a better life.

.......but as far as I am concerned.......the State of Texas is and has always been PRICELESS!

  5. Greetings pals....

"HOUSTON MISSION CONTROL"......"MC HOUSTON" This is just one of the potential name ideas that was brought forth from this very website to be introduced to the new MLS team's management as a viable contender for the actual vote........but then we saw that they somehow already had a whole list of very generic sounding names that just were not original in their overall presentation or stature. That is, until we saw the "HOUSTON 1836" moniker......and I was like "wow! that is extremely unique, as well as quite thought provoking".

Then, when the new team's management came forth with the overall finished product....ie name, logo, colors. etc.....I thought BRILLIANT! MAGNIFICENT! .....for when I saw the addition of Sam Houston sitting upon his horse within the star......I could not help but think of HOUSTON......from it's revolutionary beginnings.......to it's glorified path into the future.......

AND NOW THIS! For simple words alone just cannot express the way I feel regarding this mess that they have created with this profound controversy. Silvia Garcia should be "tarred and feathered" for her part in this......talk about "hyper ambition". I was under the impression that Oliver Luck was a solid as well as quite astute individual who actually had a backbone.....WHAT HAPPENED ON THIS FRONT! Surely, he is not going to just sit back, and allow a few minorities to start dictating on what we Americans/Houstonians vote for as our prospective professional team name? ........HOUSTON WILL AGAIN BECOME THE LAUGHINGSTOCK OF THE COUNTRY! .......and to think we wonder why we have such a negative national image......

I for one will surely stand up to the plate and let the world know that I have ALWAYS LOVED THE LATINOS, HISPANICS, MEXICANS, PORTUGESE, get the picture........for I have noticed for quite some time......even when I was an OILERS season ticket holder.....that the Latin community as a whole, just seemed to have an undying passion for their sports as well as their sports teams....... and you just cannot help but feel their passion, as well as appreciate their love for what they patronize......because they do it with a zest for life, spirit, and heart that is almost unmatched.......period!

But as an American/Houstonian, I will also stand up to the plate and ask this community to show a bit more gratitude. For no matter what a few of you may think about our city's new MLS team's name "HOUSTON 1836" ......being able to live and work, as well as constantly migrate into this country by any dangerous/illegal means imaginable.....has allowed for you and your generations to rise above from pre-revolutionary marginalization, to a proud monument of a community that you are today. From losing to General Sam Houston in the war that was.......to now being able to send millions/billions of American dollars home across the borders to feed your families.......I for one would certainly call that the kind of progress that would render a simple name discernment of a new HOUSTON TEXAS team........irrelevant.

  6. This article link is the best I've seen yet on this movie ... and it was written by a STRAIGHT guy, if that matters to any of you.

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11102003/

BIG THANKS GoATOMIC! ........for the heads-up on the article from Eric Lundegaard, MSNBC.....

I found his perspective enlightning, insightful, and liberally thorough. Also, you were correct regarding your previous post in stating about the "layers and nuances" throughout this movie.......for now I think that I will go and see it once more.......for who knows, it just may finally complete me........

  7. Greetings great pals....

Just what is it about this particular movie? I really tried hard not to post anything regarding my thoughts after viewing this movie........and I would have to guess that it is simply because I just have not figured it out as of yet.......

I would have to honestly as well as respectfully agree with some of your aforementioned post. Notably speaking, TJones in regards to the aspects of these guys "having their cake and eating it too"........

Why was I on the edge of my seat throughout tbis entire film? For this is most uncommon for me, since I for one adore great movies....... One of the previous posters stated that this movie was a bit over hyped.....I am inclined to agree......for I cried more at the movie " Legends of the Fall" than at this particular movie......but it did have it's share of a few moments though.....

Why were the love scenes so rough and profound? For I would think that if I for one was lucky enough to be situated upon such a gorgeous mountain setting alone with a companion, lover, friend, significant orther, spouse, or whatever the hottest political term of endearment is at the moment...... everything that occurs would be "easy breezy" no matter how innocent we both were......or how freezing cold the temperatures became......

THIS MOVIE DOES DESERVE TO WIN A FEW OSCARS! For when all is said and done, it is certainly a pioneering achievement.........but there is an all important aspect that this particular movie is certainly devoid of.......I think that this is the primary reason why so many in Hollywood just cannot seem to eagerly GRASP A HOLD UPON IT....... the all important aspect in my opinion is......BALANCE!

.......for if this utterly GREAT amd MAGNIFICENT movie had a bit more balance throughout......then I would feel a bit more complete regarding it's intended message.....

  8. We currently have a location in Downtown and patronize mostly professionals. We also cater to many offices in the TMC already. I didn't mention our name since I didn't want to self promote. I'm pretty certain our reputation and quailty standards are in high regard or at least we do our very best to keep it that way. I just wanted to know if any here on this board knew of any good hotspots. Driving around in the TMC, you do not see many retail areas except around Dryden. Posting here in the first place is part of my initial DDs.

Being anonymous while providing queries, can very easily serve it's purpose, but it could also discern your credibility.

It should become very evident, that the reason we would like to know your namesake or what type of services you will render, is because it will allow those of us who are familiar with the overall area and it's practices to better assist you.........

Nevertheless, you have stated above that you already cater to many offices within the TMC.....well that provides me with the knowledge that at least you pretty much know your prospective clientale, as well as their eating/spending habits. Please allow me the opportunity to suggest that you look into establishing your prospective venture into one of the newly planned or already established professional office towers (St. Luke's Med Towers, Methodist Scurlock Tower, or even the Memorial Hermann Plaza currently under construction......) you may be surprised at how they can design your establishment to stand out amongst the crowd............and please believe me, there will very well be a crowd, if you offer high quality as well as consistency in regards to your product....... I DO KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I'M SPEAKING OF IN THIS REGARD......

TRUST ME! It is not going to be your average "walk in from the street patron" that will allow you the financial windfall within the TMC.........It will be your call-in orders.......in the aforementioned, you stated the word "HOTSPOTS" well, regarding the TMC......how do you suppose that they become that way in the first place........BEST OF LUCK!

  9. We are planning to open another location in the Medical Center, but we want to know where the best retail space would be to maximize traffic. We know rent would be high, but think the location is worth it. Just trying to get information on the most crowded spaces since we are never down there for lunch or dinner. Thanks

FIRST and FOREMOST just who is the big WE........for your name and overall reputation will be indicative upon the type of clientale that will be soon patronizing your business establishment, no matter where you may be located.

I have had the pleasure of working within the confines of the TEXAS MEDICAL CENTER beginning with MD Anserson CC, to my final years with the Kelsey Seybold Clinic, located within the Medical Towers building upon Fannin St. before I moved on to oil and gas ventures downtown Houston. I can honestly assure you that you MUST perform your due-diligence before you pounce down anywhere regarding any form of retail or eating establishment within this broad and growing business sector.

It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to know just who really owns whatever piece of property that you may be interested in.......and then head on from there......for in the TMC, retail land/space is at an all time shortage unless you are planning to base your business upon one of the brand new professional towers that are constantly being built, or in the planning stages.

IN REGARDS TO RETAIL TRAFFIC......this where it becomes tricky.....for the TMC, if you have been paying attention to the building patterns within the last few years......is becoming more compact, dense, as well as space age in design aspects......THEY ARE TRYING TO KEEP WORKERS, PATIENTS, PATRONS away from the busy streets as much as possible......and into one of the beautiful gleaming towers loaded with almost everything imaginable......

So take my advice.....PERFORM YOUR DUE DILIGENCE.....for this is a most inportant aspect of planning a business within the TMC.........since you are contemplating expansion, let us hope that your name and quality standards are held in high regard.......for believe me when I say that in dealing with doctors and medical professionals, it is very important......for they can make you are break you when it comes to their patients are patrons.........BEST OF LUCK TO YOU AND YOURS ON YOUR PROSPECTIVE VENTURE!

  10. I skinned my knee last week while trying to take pictures in the Uptown area.

Good thing my efforts paid off. Three of the pics (two street sign pics and the bus station) in the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uptown_Houston article are mine. Also, I took a shot of two Galleria related signs and posted them to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Houston_Galleria.

  11. So, is that gonna be the "Draft Day Party" at your local Hooter's, or are you heading over to Sam's Boat ?

I will gaze into the "Crystal Ball" yet again, I forsee a tear in your beer, becuase the only time Vince comes back to Houston, will be to visit his Mama. Our boy Vince will be wearing Black and Gold, don't worry though Metro it is only a 45 minute flight or a 5 hour drive. The Saints may still be playing in San Antone next year, so maybe you'll only have to drive 2.5 hours, heck, i'll ride with ya ! ROADTRIP !

    Greetings TJ....

I shall be attending this year's DRAFT DAY FESTIVITIES 2006 at Reliant Stadium......which is indeed the norm for me. But if there is an altermative locale for whatever the reason this year......then it shall be at the FOX SPORTS GRILL GALLERIA......

....for I am not the prototype HOOTERS or SAM'S BOAT patron.....

OH, and in regards to your CRYSTAL BALL......take the batteries out of it and send it back to SOUTH KOREA......for if it was working correctly......you would not have to keep presenting these queries.....

.......by the way great pal......I WOULD JUST LOVE FOR YOU TO ACCOMPANY ME TO WATCH VINCE AND THE TEXANS PLAY, just pick your SUNDAY.......but please, allow me the courtesy of presenting to you a suggestion..........PACK LIGHTLY!.......

So far, Metro, your verbose reasoning boiled down to a sentence is that your cool, your a Longhorn fan, the Longhorns are cool, VY is a Longhorn, and he's cool, so the Texans would be stupid to take anyone else. Oh yeah, and your a stereotyper if you want Bush instead of VY on the team.

Does that about sum up your argument for VY to the Texans as first pick?

    /quote]

VERBOSE....now that's witty......HG, just what on earth are you trying to get me to articulate? We have already explained as well as argued until we all probably on our way to the local pub......just ask REDSCARE.....

Nevertheless, it is you that is the one that is cool......not to mention unflappable. For you are smart, as well as astute enough to realize that I actually was not calling anyone a racist....indeed.

Well, please allow me to articulate this my great and fun pal.......I am not, and certainly will not concede or sum up anything at this point......so since you have so very eloquently annointed me as being cool.....well THANK YOU for I do appreciate this honor.....and I shall take this honor and I shall sail into the breeze.....for whence cometh DRAFTDAY 2006, I shall be at the TEXANS DRAFT DAY PARTY as usual.....for I shall love to be one of the first Houstonians to SALUTE as well as WELCOME Vince Young home.......for he is coming home HG......you know why......BECAUSE THE TEXANS WILL BECOME COOL AS WELL......

  14. Metropolitantexan:

Until your most recent post, not one poster on this thread had felt race was an issue in this debate. It just so happens that there have been many successful Black QBs in the NFL who were pocket passers. However, I will not debate this issue with someone with so little to debate with that you must suggest that to disagree with your poorly researched, emotional arguments is to imply race must be involved.

Frankly, that suggests to me that the rascist may well be yourself.

From here on out, you debate yourself. I'm out. :angry2:

You are a lawyer REDSCARE! .....for you are trained to NEVER, EVER, run away during the heat of battle.......

RS, you have become an expert at supplying the utmost in resources to back-up many of your post whether they are needed or not......so I'll take the liberty of supplying the term ASSUMPTION......now you may come forth and supply the definition.......

For I have not accused anyone upon the forum of being a racist........my argument was with stereotyping........for there is a difference......

But since you have so eloquently brought RACE to the forefront of our discussion, then please allow us the opportunity dig deep within ourselves and bring forth the truth...........THIS VERY ISSUE DOES INVOLVE RACE, AS IN IT'S VERY FORM OF CULTURE OF THE BLACK AMERICAN ATHLETE.......There! I've said it, and it is not so bad after all, now is it.....

One of the very reasons that I so choose to convene my post upon this great website, is for the very reason that I sincerely feel that I am in the presence of liberal minded professionals no-matter what your industry may be....or in other words, I feel comfortable relating to my great pals any and everywhere within this hugely complex as well as diverse world that we live in. In fact, our world is so diverse that people tend to forget that we are constantly surrounded by different ethnic cultures and lifestyles. Most importantly speaking, they tend to forget that "basic human life has in it's very core the capacity to always find away".......no matter what your situation is, or the color of your skin.......

.....and it is this very concept or lack there-of, that I find lacking regarding the argument for the acquisition for Vince Young to the Houston Texans.......so why is it that so many posters have it buried within their heart of hearts, that this most talented individual just does not have the capacity to learn or conform to the prototypical pro quarterback.....although that he has proven time and time again, that he is capable of an incredible work ethic that focuses upon profound skill, and leadership.........it is because no matter how much of a true champion that he has proven to the world that he is, due to color of his skin color which equates to his overall athleticism, which in turn equates to stereotyping whenever debate is necessary......

.....so think about this RS, for even the most successful black QB's were obviously given the benefit of the doubt and permitted the opportunity to learn to become successful......whereby, upon this forum posters just are not doing that......now are they.....

OK! so there you have it, my real authentic take upon this issue........and if you cannot handle it, then of course you are out!......but I perceive you to be an open minded intellectual, for whom would not allow the simple truth to melt him like M&M's......

  15. "GARY KUBIAK IS A TEXAN....... "

Ha, Gary Kubiak is an Aggie......

Metro, talk to me about Denver's last great running QB. Wait, there isn't one. Gary Kubiak teaches pocket protection. He took Jake Plummer and made him a pocket QB. Making VY a pocket QB is like making a tiger a family pet, it won't work.

Oh, yeah, almost forgot, Gary Kubiak's Denver offense lives and dies by play-action, which requires a top-notch RB with the ability to freeze LB's in their tracks. How does all this point to a VY pick over Bush???

......come now HG, for if you're going to persist in debating me regarding this very passionate issue, then it would help if you would STOP AND THINK A BIT before you type.......for if the correct buttons are pushed, I can become extremely astute..........for what on earth makes you think that TEXANS CAN'T GROW UP TO BECOME AGGIES........for my little sister did quite well in her pursuit to her MBA at A&M.

I would be more than happy to accommodate your query regarding Denver's last great running QB......remember JOHN ELWAY? ........for I am most certain that Gary Kubiak does.........

NOW, PLEASE ALLOW US TO FOCUS......for if as they say PERCEPTION IS EVERYTHING......then I will step-up to the plate, and take the initiative to state that it is beginning to sound as if many posters in this particular forum just don't believe that Vince Young will have the capacity to make a successful transition from the standard black American running/passing college QB, into the prototypical pocket passing caucasian NFL quarterback. Now since VY is the consumate athlete who just so by the way happens to be a black American, I for one certainly would not want to think that any one of our magnificent HAIF posters would dare to think of stereotyping this young couragious CHAMPION QUARTERBACK. As for the rhetoric, it all started out very innocent yet typical enough before, and yet every since VY has declared.....but now it is becoming BLINDING IN YOUR FACE STEREOTYPICAL INNUENDO........

......ok, so please allow us a moment to regain our composure as we sneek a peek into the Vince Young Diary of Champions..........note 1. work ethic, for hard work breeds future champions......note 2. liberalism, for an open mind allows for an open heart.......note 3. winning, just win at all cost baby, for in this day and age, you are defined by your win column.......and last.....we'll, there is no last, for when all is said and done......JUST FLASH THE HOOK'EM HORNS........

  16. At this point your argument and any argument about the Texans taking VY is mute. The paper this morning says Kubiak is a virtual lock to get the head coach job. Kubiak has a lot riding on this as his first job, and he is not going to try to re-invent the wheel on his first assignment. He is going to want a prototype NFL QB in any scheme he runs, and that my friend is not VY.

Come on down from the HEIGHTS HG........GRAB a bottle of Windex......and REALLY give your crystal ball a good old fashioned cleaning that even GRANDMA would be proud of........HECK I'll even supply the dust rag.....

......now you see what a good old fashioned cleaning can do for a crystall ball once you have taken the initiative.......

......now that it is shining like the brand new ROSE BOWL Championship of the TEXAS LONGHORNS.........peer closely.........for what do you really see........ahhhhh the all important origins and livelihoods of Gary Kubiak.......and if you should peer a little closer you will then acknowledge an all important aspect......GARY KUBIAK IS A TEXAN.......

....and as you so eloquently stated above...."Kubiak has a lot riding on this as his first job" now to some degree, I shall agree......but in all actuallity Gary WILL have to re-invent the the wheel that in the future, shall guide the HOUSTON TEXANS......for with our current 2-14 record, I am most certain that Bob McNair will accept nothing less....

But let us not forget HG, that Gary is first and foremost a quarterbacks guru with whom I would think would just love to help celebrate Vince Young's "transition into the NFL" party......please remember HG, that during the many summer practices that the TEXANS have held with DENVER, they have allowed Gary to really come to know David Carr.....for he has even had to gameplan against him............LOOK HG! not only is your crystal ball spotless......but it is actually starting to GLOW!.......to be continued.........

Please allow us to focus.......for what I find to be extremely interesting is the fact that you bring up David Carr's name period.........for I just do not find it necessary to constantly extol the virtues vs nonvirtues of Mr. DC at all.........for what on earth is the point......for as I see it, he has become as lame duck as President Bush......

But I will afford him this bit of gratitude.......THANK YOU DC FOR BEATING DALLAS UPON THE HOUSTON TEXANS VERY FIRST REAL GAME 19-10.........for this, as well as the utter variations regarding the lengths of your hair........will truly become your everlasting legacy...........AMEN!

FWIW, I got here in 1977, sat in the Dome at midnight in 1980 after a LOSS...and, oh yeah, they etched my name on that piece of glass, too. Does that mean I know more about pro football than you?

....uhmmm REDSCARE....you have me looking as perplexed as that poor little doggy upon your avatar......

    What?

Well, I guess that all I can add to this, is that it certainly seems that you are as equally passionate about your city and it's sports franchises as I am.....for I'm noticing that at least we have a few things in common, such as the patronization of our city's NFL franchises...... as well as being first in line which has allowed both of us to be honored accordingly.......

I knew that you were a cool dude......but come now RS......you and I both know the very intricasies of how some things work in today's world, whether or not we care to admit to it......now don't we......Vince is coming home RS, and you know it as well as I do........

  19. Metropolitantexan,

VY is not ready for the NFL. There, I said it.

VY could become the greatest QB of all time. There, I said that too, are you happy?

Even though you can state both things in the same breath, the fact remains that VY is not what the Texans need right now. Those same "NFL Experts" you mention also say you can't plug VY into a typical NFL offense and expect great things. For VY to become the greatest would require a coach who would hand the keys 100% over to Vince to run an offense that showcases his talent. That requires a total rebuild of a team around Vince, not the other way around. Despite a 2-11 record, the Texans are not a rebuilding team. The owner confirmed that by keeping Casserly, and Casserly is not going to dismantle the team he built for one player. Casserly is going to draft people he feels can help put the Texans into the playoffs next year, and one of those people will be Bush, not Young.

    Greetings HeightsGuy......

The HOUSTON TEXANS official 2005-06 NFL record is 2-14......please allow it to be etched into your mind.....for this national disgrace has allowed us only one positive accomplishment........the rights to the 2006 first pick.....

Just what is so typical about today's offenses? Welcome to 2006 HG....for we are living in an age of information as well as innovation.......... where any and everything is possible regarding the modern NFL offense........just as long as winning is the overall objective.

HG.....I am mortified! For surely your not stating that the Houston Texans are not in a rebuilding mode......especially after a 2-14 record and the firing of our head coach along with several staff........well if you are, then please allow me the honor of suggesting that you remove your expensive battlered rose colored spectacles........and replace them with REALITY.......for REALITY is the better brand......

Please believe me HG when I state that good old Charlie Casserly is feeling very lucky these days......as in REALLY REALLY LUCKY INDEED!

.......for good old Charlie will never ever draft Bush over Vincent Young.......for even good old Charlie now knows as well as understands, that THE EYES OF TEXAS ARE UPON HIM AS WELL........

  20. My lord, finally a voice of reason!

Does anyone here understand the game where the NFL is concerned? The game is twice as fast and twice as strong at virtually every position, thus players that may do well in college don't always do well in the pros. In other words, the pro game is much different.

Vince Young is not ready for the NFL, his wind up is to slow as well as is his decision making. On top of that his arm is average at best. Imo, he'll get killed in the NFL at this point. Also as Red said, running quarterbacks generally don't last long in the pros, they also tend to not win the biggest games. History proves it.

Finally, as much as Carr has cost us, we would be crazy to get rid of him, especially in regard to picking up his option. Although I was not that impressed with him (Carr), I think he's got a much stronger arm than Young and I think he deserves a chance with a good line.

MY LORD GARY.....are you an NFL expert? If so, then the TEXANS ARE HIRING..........

Please allow me the honor of repeating myself, REAL TEXANS BLEED FOOTBALL........so therefore, you may very well rest assured that we have an understanding of the game.......indeed!

I'd have to state that I find it amazing that you have put yourself in position to state that VY is not ready for the NFL........just what are where are your sources? For several NFL experts have already stepped forth to contradict your statements beforehand, and please notice that I did state NFL EXPERTS.

I moved to the city of Houston, TX upon the year of 1983. I very quickly became a Houston Oilers fan, and I do mean die-hard......as in season tickets, apparel, momentos, the works........spent so much money that you would'nt believe......and STILL HAD TO WATCH MY TEAM MOVE TO TENNESSEE........now you tell me that I do not understand the game........for the only thing that I can truly state that has made me truly proud in all of these many years......... was the hard work that I had to put forth in regards to the passing of the sports referendums to build the stadiums so that Houston would not loose it's fabled sports teams........as well as the TEXANS winning the first franchise game against the DALLAS COWBOYS 19-10...... not to mention getting my name placed upon the HOUSTON TEXANS Wall of Honor........honoring all of the first time PSL owners/season ticket holders.....

......sometimes Gary, I think that I have surely seen it all in regards to sports stories within the City of Houston. and I'm still a relatively young guy. That is until the evening that I first saw a highlight reel of VY passing for a winning touchdown while at a playoff game at Madison High School. It was not the same old highlight reel either......for this one stood out from amongst the rest for it contained an all important element that the orthers all seem to lack for whatever reason........IT HAD MAGIC.......

......the kind of magic that can instantly galvanize an entire community into believing.........and then I knew that this kid was special. and so the story goes.........

So whatever your opinions may be.....please believe me that I can and will respect them.......but please don't ever say what VY won't, or cannot do, or may never accomplish within his career......for Vince Young is coming home to Houston........and life begins again......for the EYES OF THE HOUSTON TEXANS ARE NOW EQUALLY UPON HIM......

  21. I'm in the draft Reggie Bush camp.

I'm not ready to give up on Carr. We have seen even this year what he can do--3 TD's against the Rams in the first half anyone remember?

Also, let's not forget that Carr was also #2 in QB rushing yards in the NFL (or maybe just the AFC).

I think that if you draft Reggie Bush, you could have a San Diego Chargers-type offensive look. Brees had his coming out party last year, his 5th (I believe), and he had the Beast from Waco, LT as his running back. He also had Antonio Gates as a go to guy and Keenan McCardell later.

Carr could have Bush AND Domanick Davis as well as Andre Johnson and what should be a better Jerome Mathis next year. You Longhorn fans want Vince so much, but if the Texans could draft Bush and somehow also get David Thomas at TE, that'd be great AFAIC (as far as I'm concerned). Look at the dividends Heath Miller is paying in Pittsburgh.

The O-Line--well that has to be done the FA as well as some gem draft picks. My Panthers selected Jordan Gross with their number one pick in 2003--a non-sexy O-Lineman pick from Utah. That rookie protected the (at the time) unproven Jake Delhomme's blind-side all the way to the Super Bowl.

As far as Vince goes, I think that Tennessee would be good for him b/c he could spend more time with his "brother" and mentor McNair. However Titans O.C. Norm Chao and USC alum coach Jeff Fisher might be leaning towards Matt Leinart--especially given McNair's mileage and I also think that Billy Volek may not be coming back (unless they've settled it already).

I just think that the Texans drafting Vince will be San Diego all-over again drafting Philip Rivers because Brees wasn't getting it done. Brees kept his job the last two years, and then Schottenheimer left him in a meaningless game in week 17 in which he injured his shoulder. Now Sa Diego's plans of trading Rivers OR Brees are on hold because depending on how Brees recovers, they may need Rivers AND Brees' market value may decrease.

    Greetings GovenorAggie......

.....so very sorry to inform you. but your DRAFT REGGIE BUSH CAMP is heading toward a hasty foreclosure....

WE CAN ALL SIT HERE AND DEBATE THIS ISSUE UNTIL DAVID CARR TURNS INTO REPUNZEL.......but what's the point? For we all subconsciously know the facts now don't we?

VINCE YOUNG IS COMING HOME! For home is where the heart is........ and this hometown hero has a heart that championships are built upon..........

  22. Hmmm, let's see. Who are the three best running QBs in the NFL?

Daunte Culpepper? Michael Vick? Donovan McNabb?

Wonder how the three of them are doing in rehab? Running QBs in the NFL get hurt. There is no reason to think Young won't be hurt as well. Given that the name of the game is winning, I'd rather have a drop back passer and a great running back. Every team with a running QB missed the playoffs when he got hurt.

Also, you guys keep forgetting that for the Texans to trade Carr, they have to pick up his option. An unsigned player is a free agent who cannot be traded. All we would be doing then is letting a 4 year veteran with a good arm go for a rookie with an average arm, with no extra offense at running back.

NOW NOW REDSCARE, not only are your statements a bit impulsive, but they prove to be a bit contradictive........

Just how many pocket passing quarterbacks are constantly on the rehab within the NFL? For can you even count or name them? I know I can't........but please allow me the opportunity to remind you of the HOUSTON TEXANS last game against the San Francisco 49ers.........didn't David Carr get hurt.......as usual......

US GUYS are not forgetting anything in regards to NFL football trade strategies/techniques here in the city of Houston. People tend to so conveniently forget that US GUYS have been in the backseat driver football business for decades.........REMEMBER THE HOUSTON OILERS?......I DO!

REAL TEXANS BLEED FOOTBALL.....and what we don't know in regards to terms and strategy......we quickly learn. .......usually by way of our current team's many anomalies, nonwithstanding......

By the way great pal, you should know that I love you.......but let us start out this GREAT NEW YEAR with a bit more respect towards our future quarterback................***VINCE YOUNG*** for in reality, there is nothing average about this SUPERMAN............and if you still do not believe me.........JUST ASK USC..........
