  1. THIS is why I posted here. I knew that the brains here would figure this out. This is amazing. Thank you SO much for sharing this with me. We do have testimony from one of the first students to attend our school that the first building had been a converted vet office - so you no only provided an aerial view of the building, but the name of the vet hospital! I am floored! And curious -how did you figure out the name of the Barak Dog and Cat Hospital?? Thank you so very much! -Carol
  2. You're right - I ate at that Stables many times! The property I'm trying to track down is next door to where the Stables used to be. -Carol
  3. Greetings - I work at The Awty International School, which was founded in 1956 by Mrs. Katherine Awty. At that time, the school was in a small house located at 3736 Westheimer (where Frank's Chop House is now - just east of the intersection with Wesleyen). Sadly, over the years, no photographs of this house have been saved. I have been tasked with finding such a photo. Whew! So I thought I would come to the experts in Houston buildings and old photos. I would appreciate any help or suggestions. And if someone just happens to have a picture from back then, well, that's what we call a miracle, folks. :-) Thanks in advance for letting me pick your brilliant and Houston-centric trivia filled brains! - Carol Nash
