  1. This is absolutely not true. The new portion of Terminal B is not open yet. I was there yesterday and tried to check out the new portion because I thought it was supposed to open May 1. After walking all around and eventually asking some employees, it turns out the new portion is not open and there is no date for when it will officially open. The current terminal B is a total hole. The amount of people sitting on the floor in the long banjo hallways was astounding. And the north part was never going to house wide bodies. Don't come in here and spread lies. And obviously Southwest has fewer departures than IAH does, but their growth in Houston has been astronomical compared to United's over the past few years.

Actually the North side is going to handle mainline flights.

  2. Well, The HAS social agent told me that. He/she knows info. Why would that person say construction is starting later this year if they had no source. But I think that you are leaving the fact that those sources could be wrong. I am not fanatically optimistic, just optimistic. And all of this happened a year ago! Things could have changed.

  3. Well, it was a PR disaster. But UA was planning the cuts, all because they said they were going to cut because of hobby going international doesn't mean that was the true intention. They use the HOU debacle as a scapegoat.

  4. UA is not punishing IAH. They just cut unprofitable flying out of IAH. The new routes out of the other hubs are already served by IAH. I would not say there are countless cuts.

  5. The IAH twitter handle (@IAH) has been posting pictures Today of the Terminal B new south concourse which will be open to the public over the next few weeks.

I tweeted the following question "what is the status of the phase 2 expansion of terminal b for the north side gates?" and this was their response: "The construction will begin later this year" Take that for what its worth.  I'm not sure if the person tweeting for IAH is a reliable source, but you would think the person responsible for social media with the airport would be in the know of certain information.  Hopefully its a sign of good things to come.

The person who wrote those tweets was a HAS media agent and is responsible for the social media with the airport, and yes they are in the know. That is why they tweeted what they did. I even asked whether they will expand north, HAS responded yes. I think UA used this entire HOU situation as a cover to make needed cuts.
