It might be shorter, but it still looks just as sexy

I love the flatness of phase 1 as it creates a lot of space for rooftop gardens, markets (like Chelsea market), and nice ventilated space in the humidity of Houston. Also, it Represents the topography of the city well. But I am also looking forward to phase 2, when the towers come in. It would be awesome to see the different dimensions of height and flatness come together. It is very Houston like! Excited for this project

$1.3 million seems like a lot of money to build out a restaurant space. Can any industry people comment?
For an upscale restaurant in a great location, that is common. My sister's friend owns Broken Barrel in Hughes Landing, and they spent about that.

This is the first time I've seen that plan, and I love it. I hope the city still follows this plan closely and references back to it.

Mr. Hines is looking up thinking that he needs one more grandiose tower to cement his legacy. A tower that defines Houston and puts it on the architectural world map.

The Rustic? So one mentioned in another thread that it was still on and would start in the coming months if I'm not mistaken.
Im talking about the one on top of the Houston First building.

Does anyone know what happened to the building that was going to go next to the GRB?
-
I wonder if we will see nicer, higher quality architecture built around the city now that this building made national headlines even though the building itself isn't that great.

I spot an International Tower in that Downtown Houston model!

Turn it into a vertical public park with working elevators. Allow for graffiti, Glass mosaics, sculptures, etc. Have a slowly progressing theme as you travel up. Have some floors that are triple in height to plant a sky garden. Have restaurants, bars, clubs.
I don't know...

I haven't been to central market in a while, but looking forward to seeing it soon.
Oh, and to go along with that variety of chips, get some Salsa Maya along the way! I can't put that stuff down, so good !

There already is a double tree at Allen Center... either they are rebranding or making a hotel in one of the existing buildings...
Or they are constructing Allen Center 5 as a hotel instead of an office building.

Have an opportunity to speak with Midway in the next few weeks about this development. What would HAIF'rs give as input on a project with this much open land and with the opportunity to make this a landmark site?
-A central plaza styled like those in Europe and Latin America. A fountain?
-Need light rail extension to it maybe stemming from the green line, buses too.
-Integrate the bayou. Restaurants and cafes right on it, but try to limit chains.
-A big public market like Pikes Place in Seattle.
-Use native trees and plants. No palm trees!
-Mix modern/contemporary architecture with the warehouse brick look of the east end. No stucco or beige!
-Use arches, we don't have enough of those. And incorporate them into ground floor retail and restaurants.
-A clock tower that you can climb up to for the hell of it.
-I'm not sure if the development goes across the bayou as well, but if it does, a signature bridge. Something with charm.
-And lastly, make it a development where all sorts of people can go have fun, play local music, and interact. No matter how awesome it is, we don't need another river oaks district.
