I want to build a large Mod/Prairie Style addition to my current home (flat roof, natural wood - design over ostentation) but I'm stuck in finding an architect. I know you are supposed to find houses that have recently been built that you like and go from there. The problem is I can't find anything being built now that is even close to what I have in mind.
Does any "do" Mod anymore? I can't stand the McMansion look and want to find an architect that really is against the idea of "teardowns". I want something built that preserves my privacy (and that of my neighbors), that's not bulky or overstated but has a great design aesthetic.
Does anyone even think this way anymore? How do you find an architect when no one is building what you like, or anything that goes with your house?
