  1. As it currently stands, the Eastwood Transit Center is seriously underused. A spur from the Green Line along Elgin/Lockwood that terminates at the ETC could very well provide a link with commuter bus lines running from suburbs and towns along I-45.South. At this time, there's still enough property across from the Eastwood Transit Center to build parking lots or a garage for drivers who don't want the expense or hassle of downtown parking. Since the spur would run along a wide, esplanaded street that bisects the UH main campus, the main engineering problem would be getting the light rail tracks over or under the Union Pacific line and I-45.

    Yes people like my parents in the suburbs could take a bus there then switch to university line

  2. It'll be easiest to stay with the flow of traffic - passing a few, getting passed by a few, but generally moving at the consensus speed (which varies throughout the day and from place to place).

    As a matter of safety, try not to drive immediately beside someone unless you are passing or being passed; likewise, be aware of the blind spots you and everyone else has on their rear quarters. And keep an eye out for motorcycles - it's getting less hot, so there are more of them out there, and they're small and thus hard to spot.

    The car I rented this past weekend in calgary had an indicator on the side mirror that went on when someone was in your blind spot

  3. I do not know the prices, but they may be high... they are removing tons of affordable apartments and replacing them with ultra luxury units. One Park Place took a very long time to fill up. and that was built years ago...

    I think demand is high, but these companies are trying to squeeze out everything they can from residents, in order to take advantage of this boom. I think when more and more units open up, prices will settle into the right spot. I am not tying to be argumentative, but I am not concerned.

    That's the million dollar question. By the end of this year several thousand more apartments will be open, and I think by early next year supply may hit demand. But I may be wrong.

    I agree with you. At some point supply will meet demand.

  5. You are assuming that (a) the alleged "brochure" actually exists, ( B) that, if it exists, it said what Wayne Dolcefino claims it said, © that, if it exists, it was anything more than a draft that was never published or distributed.

    Here is what we know:

    1) We have zero evidence that the toll roads were sold to the public on the basis of eventually being free. If the tollroads were sold to the public on that basis, don't you think our crack investigative reporter would have been able to come up with some shred of evidence from before the vote was taken; you know, a reporter who can find random "brochures" in random downtown buildings; surely there would be evidence from before the vote in public records, newspaper and TV archives, etc etc)?

    2) Wayne Dolcefino, a reporter known to have made reports that cast false light (to put it nicely), claimed in an otherwise fundamentally dishonest report that he found a "brochure" in a downtown building that was "from the early days of the Toll Road Authority". Wayne claimed that the brochure promises "When both roads combined have covered their costs, the roads will become free public highways." This is classic Dolcefino. He doesn't exactly say it is a Toll Road Authority brochure. He just lets his audience infer it (and this is assuming there really is a brochure; why does the website not show the "brochure?" It shows us a picture of a toll plaza; it could surely show us the premise of the whole report. Anyone familiar with Dolcefino's career should put very little weight on the words of this alleged brochure.

    Urban rumors don't come from nowhere? If you really believe that, you should spend a few minutes on Snopes.com or just read a few of Slick Vic's posts on this forum.
