Mexican Photography Exhibit In Allen Center

While exploring the area at lunch the other day I came across the lobby exhibit of 1920s Mexico era photography from a famous Mexican artist whose name I can't recall. These are black and white photos of various sizes but most were almost poster size which really brings you into the scene and the spirit of each photo. The exhibit was fascinating to me in that I learned alot about Mexico during that era. The scenes of the upper class and government were very european which I never associated with Mexico of that time. The contrast between the rich upper class and the poor commoners is evident in many photos. One of a driver rolling his eyes to the camera as a flashy female celebrity with her lap dog and her escort make a big show climbing into his car is very funny. My personal favorite is of a young man standing alone in front of a wall with a smirk on his face. The caption says the photo was taken moments before he was executed. You would never be able to tell that was the setting of the photo without that caption. I encourage everyone to stop by at visit this exhibit before it closes. Its a great way to spend part of your lunch hour.
