  1. I don't know how long this has been in the works, CityKid stumbled across this. The official name for the theme park is 'Grand Texas'. more here: Tomball Popturri
  2. Methodist Hospital will build a 193-bed hospital at the southeast corner of SH 242 and I-45. 470k sq ft. Ground breaking early 2015. Completion 2017. www.chron.com/business/medical/article/Houston-Methodist-to-build-Woodlands-hospital-5513231.php#photo-6371514
  3. Fresh from the rumor mill: It is my understanding that the shopping strip where Popeye's, Crabby Daddy's and others will be torn down in 2015 to make way for a high rise. How do I know this? Well, my aunt got to chit chatting with one of the owners of a business in that strip center and they said that they were going to be moving soon to a new location because the landlord of that strip center is no longer signing long-term leases. They, the businesses, were notified a few weeks back that the center will be razed and replaced with a high rise office building. I have nothing more on this but upon hearing it I had two immediate thoughts. 1: it couldn't be in a more awkward spot. 2. Traffic is already horrendous at the 45/Rayford intersection. It'll be a total cluster in that area if this is true. Seems like such a strange spot for a tower, yes?
  4. It appears the long awaited Costco (I guess?) is finally coming to The Woodlands. http://impactnews.com/houston-metro/the-woodlands/the-woodlands-lands-costco-store/ Also what makes this different then Sam's Club?
  5. Shenandoah is next on the list for a midrise. A 10 story office tower will be built along I-45 south of 242 near Cafe Adobe. See the article below. This place used to be all woods. Can't say that no more. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/nb/woo...ws/5342133.html

  7. these are need so bad. weird how they're gonna be tolled during peak hours though; hope it's not much. maybe .50? Selected quotes... The project includes two flyovers to ease congestion at Texas 242 and Interstate 45, with future plans to add a third, Chance said. The flyovers, which will collect tolls during peak hours, will provide an alternative to motorists at the intersection. The intersection will continue to offer ground level turning options to motorists at no cost. One flyover will go from the northbound lanes on Interstate 45 to Texas 242 westbound. It is expected to begin about 1,500 feet from the intersection and exit before Lone Star College. It will bypass two lights on Texas 242, Chance said. The second flyover will go from 242 westbound to I-45 southbound. The flyover will begin near St. Luke’s Way and exit onto the interstate about 1,500 feet south of the intersection. A third ramp is in the planning stages, but is not included in the current project. It would begin on Interstate 45 northbound and exit to Texas 242 eastbound, Chance said. The flyovers are the fifth and final road projects funded through the state's "pass-through toll" program, where the county pays for the cost of the roads upfront and is then reimbursed by the state based on the number of vehicles using the road. Motorists will be charged a premium fee to use the flyovers during peak hours, while minimal or free use expected during off-peak hours. http://www.ultimatewoodlands.com/2010/02/work-starts-texas-242-flyovers
  8. http://www.conroeisd.net/images/school/14.jpg Main Entrance: State HWY 242 and Honor Roll Drive http://www.conroeisd.net/images/school/cphs/newhs_site.jpg Site Plan The campus is scheduled to open in the fall of 2005. The campus is located west of I-45 and east of Gosling on the south side of SH242. The new Woodlands high school will have a capacity of roughly 2400 students. The school will open with grades 9-11. The campus will have 62 regular classrooms, 15 science rooms, 7 computer labs, 3 art rooms, 1 library, 1 band hall, 1 orchestra hall, 1 choir room, and 1 black box (drama) classroom. The renderings pale in comparison to the current construction photos shown this week.
  9. I recently read that Montgomery County was putting up a bond for building an overpass from I-35 on to 242. Does anyone have more information about when this could be built and how many overpasses it will consist of? Also does anyone know any future plans for Research Forest or forseeing it having an over pass to eleviate its congrestion.
