This thread was originally created August 29, 2019. I'm reposting / reupping this because this post and other content from me are no longer available on the forum. An archive link will be posted soon. An archive link to this thread before its deletion is here. Mods, please don't move this to the Heights forum where all of my other Washington Corridor and Rice Military, and Garden Oaks/Oak Forest posts were moved to this week. This is NOT in the Heights and it's not part of the Greater Heights area. It's an entirely different area that as suggested and advocated for previously needs its own area forum. There is lots of development happening here, much spurred by the Sawyer Yards and Buffalo Heights developments, which usually merits the creation of a new neighborhood forum. Thanks. 1624 West 34th St in the Central Northwest area of Houston: Street View

Finally they are going to tear down the strip shopping center on W. 43rd at Ella and re-build. This center has been mostly vacant and an eyesore for many years. Word is tenants just found out last week that they have to be out by March. Owner says it will be a year before new center is ready for move in. This leaves the few tenants there in a fix. Radio Shack is moving inventory to their W 34th St. location. The 99 cent store has reduced prices to 89 cents (hurry in for your big savings). Hallmark is probably getting the hardest hit. They have been in this center for at least 20 years and had the nicest spot. They are hoping to relocate in N. Shephard. I feel bad for the business owners but I am thrilled that they are finally doing something. Maybe we can get some good retail to come into the hood.

I just spoke with someone at Page Partners about the project on West 43rd. He assured me the project is still going on..but they had some delays. Hopefully they will be breaking ground in a few weeks. Here is the website. http://www.page-partners.com/flyers/43rdEl..._Ella_Flyer.pdf I hope this will be a huge success. We could sure use more shopping and restaurants in this up and coming neighborhood.
