I was browsing the newspaper The Rice Thresher dated December 2, 1983 and came across an advertisement for Braesbrook Landing Apartments located at 7675 Phoenix Dr. Does anyone recall these apartments? I'd love to see a photo of the buildings or signage. Any memories of living here, or visiting friends? The current site is a little confusing. Half of this complex was demolished and rebuilt with The Lanesborough Apartments at 1819 South Braeswood Blvd. The other half of the parcel was occupied with the fire station, since demolished, and now sits vacant. I guess the developer of The Lanesborough didn't need all that extra acreage. They only built on half of the parcel. Give your rent payments a semester break. Come to Braesbrook Landing, on Braeswood, just west of Fannin. We’ll give you one-half month’s rent free when you move in, to help with the expenses of getting settled. And if you stay with us beyond six months, we’ll give you another half-month free as well. If you care about a better quality of life, we care about you. And we show I, with both adult and family sections, swimming, covered parking, and lots of extras like these: Free Transportation. Complimentary bus service to Med Center, U of H, TSU, and Rice, to save you gas and parking expenses. Larger Apartments. With storage space to match. Plus ceiling fans and dishwashers, in a choice of 18 floor plans. Security. Smoke alarms, deadbolts, and a 24-hour on-site uniformed patrol, with free escort service from your car on request. Maintenance. The most conscientious in the city. With a 24-hour hotline and next day service guaranteed. Life’s too short to live where you’re not happy. Do something about it at Braesbrook Landing. We know how to give your rent payments—and your life—the break they need. Braesbrook Landing Apartments 7675 Phoenix Drive * Houston, Texas 77030

I was browsing the newspaper The Jewish Herald-Voice dated May 6, 1965 and came across an apartment listing for Rebecca apartments located at 9707 Timberside Drive. What's interesting is it appears 80% of the apartments were demolished, and sometime in the 1990s the last remaining 2 apartment buildings was reused and rebranded. Now, the remaining building is called Citadel at The Med Center. I wonder why not just demolish the whole thing? Weird mystery. Anyone know about this area? $119.50 All Utilities Paid Special: Large 3-bedroom, 2 Baths for $199.50 No Lease No Deposit Rebecca 9707 Timberside / MO 6-4500 You can see the empty field where the majority of Rebecca was located in the 1960s. Now looks to be a soccer/sports field.

I watched these apartments get progressively worse every time I went by. Then someone tore it down to the studs and started replacing all the rotted out portions. They then started remodeling it with new wood but have since stopped and it is rotting away once again. I go by this when going to the Matrix Student housing. Google Maps April 2011, looked semi okay but got worse every year with rotted wood. I think they had a fire at one point. This is it today.

Researching old school Houston multifamily developers and I came across this garden style apartment complex located at 7901 Cambridge Street. Does anyone know who developed the property? Possibly built by Marvy Finger, Harold Farb, Martin Fein, or Ted Dinerstein? Looks like Park on Cambridge was built in the 1980s? Assuming the complex was sold and bought a few times. Now probably owned by a national company specializing in garden-style acquisitions. I wonder how long until this complex gets demolished and rebuilt into 4 to 6-story apartments? Looks like the place is just a few blocks away from Old Spanish Trail and Cambridge. That intersection, with the McNair campus expansion, TMC Helix Park, and the UT Research Park developments. CenterPoint Energy also just announced a $200 million TMC substation on the corner of Cambridge and OST. I give it 5 years before luxury apartments go in!

I doubt that address is correct, more likely the land south of the electrical company. Architect - https://www.jrmarchitects.com

Does anyone have any experience with the apartment complex called The Terraces on Brompton located at 7315 Brompton Street? The apartments are located just 3 blocks west of the Texas Medical Center. I wonder who was the original developer? The Finger Companies, The Farb Companies, Martin Fein Interests, or The Dinerstein Companies? So many of the original Houston multifamily developers built those old school garden complexes scattered around. I would assume this is a cheaper alternative to living closer to the TMC. In due time, 10 to 15 years, this will be demolished for a luxury 7 story building. Website: https://theterracesonbrompton.com/

I was browsing the newspaper The Rice Thresher dated November 14, 1986 and came across an advertisement for Bissonnet Plaza Apartments located at 5104 Buffalo Speedway. There were two different apartment complexes on each side of the street. Looks to be have built in the 1950s and demolished in the late 1980s or 1990s. The two shopping centers were built in replace of these apartments? Plaza In The Park Shopping Center and Terrace Shops Shopping Center. Any pictures of the apartment complex?
