That would be pretty awful, yet hilarious, if the Astoria does fail and all we are left with is a detailed weekly log of the McDonald's construction.
Sad.

There is a sign at the site that says 20% sold.
They are now up to 25% sold. Signage updated this week.

Someone should update the thread titles, it's now going to be 40 stories.
At 40 stories, the building will be one of the tallest residential buildings around and perhaps the tallest rental tower in the city. The project was 35 stories when it was announced last year. -
I call B.S. on this.
If and when the University Line gets built, Uptown Line by association going to become rail.
I agree, it will be a ROW purchase, but I don't expect the BRT version to last long.
I think they are lowering our expectations, again, and will revert back to a rail line for another press release like they did a few years ago.

I'm still watching the construction race with the Hines development behind the Waterwall. I think Hines is still slightly ahead - even though there is a delay on one half of the property while they demolished the old sales office of the Turnberry development.
The sales office is long gone now. I guess you might have meant *was instead of *is.
I could swear that little crane has been up and active for almost a month now.
*shrugs shoulders*
Might have been, but I did not notice it before when I drove by.
With all the crane talk for BLVD Place, just wondered why no one mentioned this one.

The crane went up for this project this week.
No photo to share, but thought I would pass the info along since this thread has gone quiet.

Am I missing something. The most I counted prior to this plan is three.
I worded it very wrong. But I meant to point out we have more proposed towers now than we ever did.

Agreed, the photo is a non-issue. But for the record, the 3rd quarter started July 1 and ends Sept 30.
My bad, I need to work on my reading comprehension better.
Thanks for clearing up my goof.
-
From Sept 2. Absolutely nothing going on at the site.
Again, they are estimating construction to start in the 3rd quarter.
Which at the earliest would be October, and not every project starts on time.
I think the photo you posted is a non issue. Give it a few more months.

Just like the Titan, only this time, McDonald's is staying put.
I am wrong. McDonald's is being demolished in Q1, 2013.
Made a quick phone call to RD, and surprisingly, was transferred to Mr. Davis...(nothing firm, he was nice enough to at least give me information on soft dates and plans that was not official for a press release)
So long story short, it is essentially Titan 2.0, just now it's a new building, new name.
Same spot, same base, and no McDonalds, and hopefully this one breaks ground.
I still like the design of the Titan crown, but Astoria still has charm.
UPDATE:
It's gained a floor since the last update. 25 floors now.
3 floors taller than the Cosmopolitan, and same floor count as it's predecessor.
TAKING HIGH-RISE LIVING TO NEW HEIGHTS.Combining modern architectural elegance with art deco features, this is a home for a select few. Twenty-five floors of superlative custom high-rise living.- 7

Jessie, they are looking to break ground 3 quarter this year if they can maintain their schedule.
it hopes to break ground on the 39-story tower in the third quarterLTAWACS...remind me to appoint you head Hurricane forecaster...if you are going to make something up, at least you will be among peers.

The person who recorded it is a friend of Uriel's. His name is Joshua Gonzales Salinas, per Facebook. He was promoting his art show this past weekend. Seems to me that he was playing lookout for Uriel, and recording the video for Uriel to take the "glory" later.
Then, he is just as guilty. I hope he get the same punishment.
Also, he filmed the video in "portrait mode", which, in itself, should be a crime with equal punishment.

And big sidewalks with retail leading up to them.
No strip center suburban style parking.
Build a parking garage, make it happen. . .

Uriel Landeros. . . allegedly.

It's very no bueno.
You responded to a post from February?
And why is it, "no bueno".
Would you rather it not be developed?

Some of the work from the previous redo looks unfinished, particularly the 59-N to 610-S ramp. The barricades are all out of whack.

Nah. I wish I could set up something like that, though. lol
My mom is in Houston for a few weeks, and she knows I was following the demolition so she took it upon herself to snap a picture and email it to me.
Your mom should join HAIF. She'd fit right in.

They pumped all the water out first - took a few days. Wasn't around when they got it drained low to see if they caught the fish and put them in the other ponds. Or took them home and ate them.
The pond connected to the other pond across the road/bridge, then they barricaded it. So, if anything, when it reopens, the adjacent wildlife will repopulate the newer, smaller pond.
-
What do they do with all the wildlife from the pond? The ducks, swans, fish, turtles? Do they fend for themselves?
Went by today on the way to work. The drained main pond structure has almost been rebuilt - albeit about a 50% smaller footprint. At least they left some of it and some of the nice cypress trees. The rest of the old pond footprint has been back-filled. Looks like they are beginning to start on foundation work now.

unnamed source says it could break ground in June
Unnamed sources are my favorite.
Good news. Another Crane near Uptown/Greenway.
The Astoria: Condominium High-Rise At 1405 Post Oak Blvd.
in Uptown and Galleria Area

Half wrong, but looking at this footprint, how in the world are they going to build this condo? Am I missing something here? McDonalds is being rebuilt on the largest corner chunk of land, leaving very little left for the Astoria.
