A rendering banner has been posted along the majority of the site.

One banner features a new rendering of the TMC3 Hotel and Convention Center.

Rebar is peaking out of the hole. A retaining wall is forming.

I didn't realize the hotel and convention center would be so tall. This looks amazing.

Just outside South Loop getting any love? I always wonder about that near Astroworld

Just my opinion, but I'd think the area in between will need to take off first. Might be 10 - 15 years outside the loop given how long I saw midtown take to get a true synergy going. The other issue is that you have 610 cutting off walkable/biking access... so it's not as convenient as something along south main within 610.

Oh I have no doubt that this campus will spur mixed use all around it to cater to the working professionals there. This is going to be epic.

I couldn't agree more. TMC3 is going to reshape the city. Too many new, high paying jobs, attracting people from typically very urban places (Boston, etc.) mean there will be massive interest in living close to work in the south Houston area.

Stopped by the site yesterday and had a short discussion with one of the contractors. The Main street tower is about to top out and the back side tower is on the 25th floor leaving 13 to go. This is going to be such a dynamic presence on the southwestern fringe of the TMC.

Cant wait to see it once its all done.

Will the hotel and condos share the pool?

I think we are going off of two different definitions of TMC. I think you may be going off what we traditionally considered TMC (that area between Holcome and Hermann park.

When I think of TMC I now extend that definition all the way down to the women's center and ask the way east to the Veterans complex. I think housing in that triangle made my the original TMC area, the women's hospital and the Veterans complex would work.

Apart from MD Anderson that are between fanning, OST, Braeswood and Cambridge is basically empty. Lots of room for development and would link the fragments of TMC.

I agree about those parts. I was defining TMC as the main hospital system areas. I'm down Southwest of TMC and agree even s main has tremendous potential.

Maybe a little too dense. They need to start building taller. I worked in the med center in the early 2000s and back then I appreciated the connectivity, but there were gaps. Now it's crazy how much in fill has taken place. Even on some green space.

If there were residential components ingrained in TMC it would be the most urban feeling area of Houston. I can imagine TMC being twice the size by now if residential was part of the deal from the start.

Residential on the outskirts makes tons sense, but not on the interior. Our response times could be negatively impacted by throwing other types of visitors/traffic in the mix. Also, the TMC is going to start getting taller (hence this project added 19 floors on top of an existing 6).

  7. Houston needs this. At work (I'm an IT Architect at a big hospital in the TMC) we're starting machine learning to analyze data of our patients and get into predictive models to better treat them. Data science in healthcare alone has the potential to change the world and Houston should be at the forefront. It wouldn't surprise me if we get to a point where (based on your vitals and data alone) we can predict when you're in danger of a medical emergency occurring so that we can preemptively treat you (or improve staff response times). Turner + any other Houston should rally around this for the UT land location given its proximity to the TMC and potential benefits to our economy.

Nice looking.  It's interesting that electric cars usually retain some designed facsimile of grills.

The grills allow some airflow across the battery container (at least on my Leaf it does). They also have the AC radiator.

  9. I like WOMH, but the impact on the surrounding neighborhood is wrong and a double standard. I was at Raven Tower watching a band (it's covered but outside) and while looking to the left I saw an apartment with a mom inside her living room... probably less than 100ft away. If this development were a biker bar/rap club/you name it in a better-off neighborhood, you'd have this place shutdown in a matter of weeks.

WOMH can coexist... but they'd have to turn the music down some and possibly stagger some events.

Good question, Purdue.  I drove past this building last weekend and was shocked to see the rusty clock still on top.  It also appears as though the building is still vacant.  Can anyone confirm?  Transwestern had plans to turn this into a tech hub, but I don't see any sign of that.

I hope they keep the clock. It could be really unique if they fixed it up.

  11. I hate the 2035 plan grading of the hill and "VIP Master Suites". Totally kills the whole relaxing vibe of the park and looks too structured, stark, and something you'd expect in suburbia. Sitting on the lawn with "VIPs" hovering over you would feel strange. It's almost as if the board is now a bunch of old farts that decided that "hmph, those kids rolling around the hill and having fun distract from the entertainment, so let's put an end to that!"
