  1. How do you call the 1960 place "dumpy" and not the 290 locale? I felt like I needed a shower after visiting it. I agree that 1960 was a dive..but..so is the NW Mall place.
  2. The good: Paul is a great guy..very willing to talk/ discuss to the foodies, his daughter (don't remember her name) is an excellent server, food is ok to good, portions are big. Selection is the highpoint, something for about everyone. But, that could be what causes.... The bad: It is hit or miss with service/ food speed/ food arriving all at the same time/ order being accurate. No rhyme or reason why the kitchen is slow or not slow. No bread served before the meals. "Specialty" dishes can be off in delivery, i.e. the cajun dish. For me, a tad bit on the higher side of well priced for where/ what it is. We had a 3 adult, 1 kid lunch and walked out with a mid $40 bill, B4 tip. I think softdrinks are about 2 bux a pop... The ugly: Wait times can be long, even if not arriving during the busy times...and...I saw no monkey. Damn. IMHO, it will endure due to the diversity of dishes and need for a this type restaurant in the Cypress area. Kuddos to the partner who has taken time/ interest to address these issues on a public forum. I have seen these actions go horribly wrong on other occasians.
  3. Boiled, Chicago styled BBQ? No, it wasn't good,...hence...its gone. Don't come to Texas and tell Texans what BBQ is about. Mega-Fail. My brother was ultrahyped that SB was coming here, after his living in Fla for 7 yrs. He ate at the Bones there weekly, and raved about its greatness. We went to the Willowbrook locale after giving it 45 days to season the pans, and boy was he dissappointed. His comment was that the Tx version wasnt as good as Fla. My comment was that he had tasted real BBQ and the others were just bad imitations. He then concurred. I remeber King when he was a little more north on 249 and really good...then the buffet monster took over and I have not gone back...I feel for you on the sick part.
  4. There is a definite problem that the title company was aware of if this is the case. Always-Always examine your chain of title, and beware anything that has a transfer that is under 6 months old.
  5. Although it does sound fishy, I have had situations where a 2nd party made an offer w/o inspections when in the face of a primary offer asking for repairs. The way the real estate purchase contract reads is you have the right to terminate during the termination (option) period...Not renegotiate the offer. To do that, you must terminate the offer/contract and resubmit with the new offer..hence..opening it up to any other contracts on the table. As you were made aware of before you terminated/ optioned out, there was a competing offer on the table. If you wanted the home, your choice was to accept it as originally negotiated. Only then would the purchase had been safe.
  6. Some/most of the foreclose listing agents are not/do not put in correct information. They also traditionally do not deal with the general public. It is hard enough for an agent to get them to respond to us when presenting a contract. Not all the homes for sale are shown on the HAR.com, as per agent instruction. There is a command to not put the address up onto HAR.com. The best foreclosures are gone in days. After several competitive bids are calculated. "Short sales" are not included in the foreclose group, but do offer a good value sometimes. Maint fees are not always correct from the foreclose agency. In the listing it says to check all infomation for accuracy. Best bet for finding MLS generated home values? Still is a GOOD realty agent. I check the MLS 2x daily for fresh "deals".
  7. Some of the areas suggested are great...others are duds. Pull comps of any sub you look at and look at the last year of activity. Example: Villagio- Originally built with 100'ish a sq.ft homes, now being built with $85 a square builders. Poor situation for the guys who bought first. And that one small gated sub in champions..dont remember the name...40% foreclosures.
  8. Yup...what he said. Don't come to Texas selling another states idea of Texas food.
  9. Good riddance..what a PITA the owner was..Chef was top notch, though.
