Houston Mod presents its 4th architectural exhibition entitled Endangered Modern: The Real Story.
You are invited to attend a reception on Thursday, July 9, 2009 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM to celebrate the exhibit opening.
The exhibit will be held at the galleries of the Houston AIA / Architecture Center Houston, 315 Capital #120 and will run through August 28, 2009.
The exhibit aims to create a greater understanding of the many threats to architecturally-significant modern structures that ultimately lead to their destruction and loss.
Nearly a dozen significant landmarks that face potential demolition or destruction are detailed with both historic information and current photographs. Learn how you can participate in saving these and other modern monuments.
The exhibition is a collaborative project led by Houston Mod board member Monica Savino and includes the research and participation of the Houston Mod board and other local preservationists.
Houston Mod is grateful for the contributions of A&E - The Graphics Complex, AIA/ArCH and BRAVE / ARCHITECTURE in making this exhibit possible.

Pub Fiction presents Houston's Original 80's Night every Thursday night.
Before all the rest -- Houston's own Perennial 80's Band, The Lost Boys were playing at PUB FICTION -- Midtown's hottest venue for music, sports, dancing and fun!
Join us as we approach the third year of all the 80's you can handle! No gimmicks, no tricks -- just all your favorite 80's tunes -- from synth-pop to rock to punk to the original pop princesses!
Hot. Wild. Fun. Sexy. And that's just in the first set! You can expect all that and much, much more from this high-energy 80s dance band. (No autographs, please)
The Lost Boys were born in Hollywood, but instead of loading up the truck and moving to Beverly (...Hills, that is) they went in reverse. (Did we mention these guys are lost? Yep, they never ask for directions.)
But this band isn't over-the-hill. They are just getting warmed up. And where else will you find top-notch musicians-- who can sing, too? Nowhere!
Whether you want to draw a young, hip crowd- or play it cool with classic Gen Xers,The Lost Boys will deliver!
