Overgrown Medians On Grand Parkway

Recommended Posts

From I-10 to Cinco Ranch Blvd there are 6' tall weeds and grass that have not been cut since the Grand Parkway was finished (about a year). Texas department of transportation planted slivers of Bermuda grass initially, but it died from lack of water, and now it looks like corn fields are yeilding there fruits all along the highway.

My question is.... Who the hell is responsible for this blight, and who can I contact to get some answers?

They have cut along side the feeder, though. The median needs some upkeep. It looks pretty bad until you enter the Cinco Ranch, or just cross over Bay Hill/Highland Knolls BLVD.

As of today they haven't cut anything from I-10 to almost all the way to Cinco Ranch Blvd. The only reason Cinco Ranch stays kept is because they are doing the upkeep.

Well, along the feeder at Bay Hill, the grass is cut. But the median looks like a little jungle.

Yeah I just drove by and the median looks like crap, but they did cut along Bay Hill. From my understanding Cinco Ranch does the upkeep from Bay Hill to Westheimer Parkway which is why it stays looking nice.

Again, does anyone know who to contact?

I've always felt that TxDOT has done a pretty poor job in general of maintaining state and interstate roads in the Houston area. Highway sweeping in Houston in particular is noticeably lacking. Cutting back medians and ROWs is lax, too. Is this a matter of regional funding? Is this TxDOT's way of saying, "we're building more newly constructed highways in Houston so as a balance, less funding is available for highway sweeping and cutting?"

Anyway, TGP does look rough south of I-10 and north of about Highland Knolls or so.

So am I correct in assuming that this is TXDOT's responsibility?
