Buying Green 

The greenest thing you can do is buy nothing.

 

Every product made uses water, energy and other resources from the earth — whether that be a tree or a piece of granite. All consumption involves extraction. 

 

That said, some consumption is more sustainable than other consumption. So if you are going to buy something new, try to buy the most sustainably produced, well-made, longest-lasting and completely-recyclable-at-the-end-of-its-life item possible.
