j_cuevas713
https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZ0kceugqzIoEt1WIpChyaujZh4c8XfU8WBv#/registration The Montrose TIRZ is hosting a "special meeting' at 8am, while everyone is at work, to push the changes the city (Whitmire) gave for Montrose Boulevard through. Here is a link to register for the Zoom meeting. Each person will have 1 minute to speak. I encourage anyone and everyone in this forum to say something. We can't allow this lack of transparency to win. At the last TIRZ meeting residents were so upset at the changes, the motion failed to pass. 4

j_cuevas713
Over 80+ people spoke against the new plan with less than 20 speaking for the new mayor inspired plan. The TIRZ still approved the measure because the majority of those TIRZ board members have no backbone and were appointed by the mayor specifically. Two of the original board members voted NO on the measure. So as it stands, some areas will have up to 6ft sidewalks and as little as 4ft sidewalks if you want to count the tree grate as part of the sidewalk. I believe some sections may go as wide as 8ft but that will be the exception to save more trees. Utility poles will be raised higher to prevent the trees from being affected any longer. There will be no sidewalk on the cemetery side even after the cemetery owner told the mayor she liked the old plan and wanted sidewalks. One tree is the reason no sidewalks will be built on that side with 2 of the 3 historically marked trees now dead. The streets will be widened to 12ft. The current measurement is roughly 11ft in most sections. All traffic calming features were removed but kids will get one HAWK signal to get to Wharton Elementary. This new plan also forfeited federal funding for Phase 2. This mayor is an idiot.

They haven't even discussed Phase 2 at the moment. I do know that this administration is now trying to destroy the pedestrian right of way plans for the bridges that will cross I-45 after the reroute. The sidewalks are currently set to 17ft wide with a bike lane. The new administration is saying they can only do 6ft sidewalks and removal of the bike lane.
