Harvard Street School At 727 Waverly St.

Recommended Posts

Anyone know the build history of this school? A few historical websites seem to contradict each other.

The 2nd Harvard Street School was designed by Houston-based architect Olle Lorehn.

In 1912, the building was moved to what is now 727 Waverly St and became the Eight Avenue School (it closed in 2005), and the first part of the present brick building was erected.

In 1927, a “spacious two-story brick building” with an auditorium was erected, increasing the classroom count to 23.
