Highrise Tower
Went inside Center for Pursuit's W. Dallas location this afternoon. Had a great talk with a staff member. Hanover has so much land! Wonder if they will scoop up The Center for Hearing and Speech at 3636 W Dallas next? Hugh Roy and Lillie Cullen Residence Hall at 810 Marston was built in 1974. Just a friendly PSA @Urbannizer, this is not technically EaDo. EaDo ends at the BNSF tracks that cut over from 59 near Commerce (by Tout Suite) due south(ish) to 45, near Lockwood/Elgin. This would be considered part of the Greater East End, and is more or less on the border of Second Ward and Eastwood/Greater Eastwood (the border between the two is typically considered the UP railroad tracks that run parallel to Harrisburg). (The border of EaDo is a very contentious subject in the area, especially with long time residents who despise the term “EaDo” and the gentrification it stands for in their eyes. Making sure we are consistent with identifying these borders would go a long way to helping preserve the historic boundaries of these neighborhoods 👍🏻) 3 1
Luminare
Site Plan from this upcoming agenda. Fantastic development for this area. 3 Buildings + 1 Parking Garage with enough space for a 4th building later. One Admin building, One Residential, and one "program" building (meaning this will be a leased office space or retail. Retail looks to be on the first floor throughout the whole complex. Lots a great landscape design here too. Build it. 6
Urbannizer
https://www.virtualbx.com/construction-preview/houston-center-for-pursuit-new-campus-awaiting-planning-commission-decision/ Quote Houston (Harris County) — The non-profit organization Center for Pursuit is awaiting a decision from the Planning Commission on its site plan application for the new campus. The Planning Commission on June 20 deferred the case for three weeks at staff’s request to allow Center for Pursuit to revise information and coordinate with other city agencies to discuss its intentions concerning on-street parking, a landscape plan, and the pedestrian connection to the Greenline light rail station in the 4500 block of Harrisburg Boulevard. Center for Pursuit provides transitional housing and programs for special needs persons. The land was chosen in part because it is directly across Harrisburg from a light rail station. In 2017, Center for Pursuit suffered catastrophic flood damage from Hurricane Harvey and soon after announced plans to sell its property at West Dallas Street and Marston Street and begin the search for a new home. The Center came to terms with a buyer in 2018 and entered a short-term lease to relocate some of its operations at 9310 Kirby Drive.

Plans for the new facility include residential spaces for assisted living, group homes, home and community-based services, and intermediate care facilities, as well as the organization’s new independent/community living program. The facility was designed by the Houston office of San Francisco-based Gensler. Meanwhile, the Center for Pursuit is in the process of selling its former property near the intersection of Shepherd Drive and Allen Parkway. An affiliate of Houston-based apartment developer Hanover Co. previously signed an agreement with the nonprofit to purchase 6.72 contiguous acres at the site. Hanover has closed on the first parcel of what will be a two-parcel sale. The company is scheduled to close on the second one in late 2020. Hanover plans to build a mixed-use development with residential and commercial structures on the site, the release said. A year ago, Hanover reached a deal with the city of Houston to acquire 4.54 acres also near the intersection of Shepherd and Allen Parkway. In January 2019, plans for a 13.6-acre mixed-use development on the site were submitted to the city.

j_cuevas713
These are the types of developments that need to continue to fill our city. This is similar to Montrose Collective in terms of beautiful design that goes a bit above what we're used to seeing in Houston.
Urbannizer
https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2020/01/15/houston-nonprofit-breaks-ground-on-new-east-end.html Houston’s largest nonprofit serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities has broken ground on its new $71.4 million headquarters in the city’s East End. The Center for Pursuit hosted a formal groundbreaking ceremony Jan. 14, during which dignitaries celebrated the launch of the nonprofit’s new headquarters. The four-building complex will be at 4400 Harrisburg Blvd., near the intersection of Harrisburg Boulevard and Lockwood Drive. Once complete, the Center for Pursuit's headquarters will consist of four buildings — administration, programs, health and wellness, and a 41-unit residential building. The facility was designed by the Houston office of San Francisco-based Gensler. Houston's Harvey Builders is serving as general contractor. The project is scheduled to be completed by November, according to the TDLR filing.
Montrose1100
Wow! Awesome news! I hope this will spur some kind of art park at the graffiti warehouse/Amazon van converter lot to the west.
X.R.
By November? What in the what? That is fast. Also, Gensler and Harvey just lining up job after job and grinding these ambitious timeframes to try and get this work done. Its great that such a worthy cause and organization is getting the space it deserves.
