Highrise Tower
wow! I never knew the Boy Scouts of America had a camp in Hermann Park. This was in 1919 and on the eastern side of Hermann Park, near Dixie Drive. It's hard to read, but Dixie Drive was actually proposed at this time. A more spontaneous recognition of the worth of an organization perhaps was never paid than one week ago Friday, when at a luncheon of the Houston Salesmanship club George E. Kepple called on the members of the club to aid in provided a boy scout's home for the new field at Hermann Park. After Mr. Kepple finished his talk with President A.S. Pimental asked the 350 members of the club present, “Well, what are we going to do about it?” The two story home will be erected on the field recently set aside for them at Hermann Park bu the city council will be two story modern building with every convenience. The original plan was to make it a log cabin, but the Salemanship Club insisted ideas of its own when it took charge. The grounds around the building will be laid out as shown in accompanying drawing. Tennis courts, baseball diamonds, a race track, and other athletic fields will be provided. The field will border on the proposed Dixie drive through the park. Here's where it should be located in present times. Looks like there Hermann Park maintenance building there now.
