hindesky
"El Tiempo Cantina, the wildly popular fajita-focused franchise and offshoot of iconic Houston brand Ninfa’s, could be sizzling inside its new quarters in Galveston’s Strand district as soon as April of next year, the company’s executive in charge of business growth told Chron Tuesday morning. The restaurant’s new digs would be in one of the Strand’s most historic structures, the Thomas Jefferson League Building. Built in 1871, the Renaissance Revival-style building was once home to “the most splendid clothing store in the South” and many other merchants, including wholesale clothing and hardware concerns. It sits on the former site of Moro Castle, a fashionable bar in the days when Galveston was rapidly becoming known as “the Wall Street of the Southwest.” According to the Galveston County Daily News, the building was bought earlier this year by Facundo Caminos, one of a handful of nearby historic properties recently purchased by the prominent local businessman and attorney." https://www.chron.com/food/article/el-tiempo-galveston-location-18362489.php
