The restraining order prohibits the demolition of the hotel, one of the terms in the sale contract between the estate of hotel owner Harold Jack Findley and the Corpus Christi-based Ed Rachal Foundation. The court will now name a new dependent administrator, who will be responsible for preserving the hotel during its sale. Lawyers from the conservation group and the family have been in discussion with two potential buyers, including Houston businessman Nick Herman, who wants to repair and restore the structure. “The assumption at the moment is that the offers that are being formulated are for preservation,” Doughty said. “We’re working with anybody who is interested in helping with funding for the actual restoration."
