thatguysly
I think it will look fantastic from street level. We will find out soon enough.
KinkaidAlum
Count me as one for team glass. That said, this tower has the potential to easily be the best residential tower in town in terms of architecture in my mind. The bar is low.
Avossos
I am sure Hines will make this look good. The stone will look nice, but Glass is would have been cool too. Hines is a pro. I like stone. I appreciate diversity of materials.

The "twist" and profile they have set up is actually going to be nice to see how they pull off including the illusion they are doing with the glass coming to an edge at the middle of the tower portion. the twist is easy, it's all in the floor plates and their angle relative to the building and to the floor above it.

Popular Post HoustonIsHome
Can't wait for this to open. As each of these are built and fill up the activity in the area increases. Hopefully we stay getting more than restaurants, bars and CVSes in this area. I am not even gonna touch the stone vs glass discussion because I am still so happy that the garage that used to be there is gone. Geez that thing was hideous
mollusk
It looks like the ground floor is primarily glass, so it's not going to be like some giant forbidding bluff a la 700 Louisiana.
jmitch94
This is already a great area now and I'm sure this will add more to the scene. I just hope some of my favorite places don't get priced out like Warren's.

Either a pricier establishment will take over or idk.
Texasota
The building isn't going anywhere, but most establishments are pricier than Warren's. It'll just come down to the rent, and I have no idea who owns that building or if they're likely to sell.
Popular Post hindesky
Looks like the stone covering for the parking garage won over the glass cover.

kbates2
Still very excited for this building and hoping that this part looks ok but the first signs of it look pretty bad.
H-Town Man
Maybe we can get some frosted glass tubes to cover it up? Shame. 1
Popular Post TheSirDingle
While y'all are complaining about the base, i'm just thrilled that this beautiful tower is replacing that run down shed they call a parking garage.

tangledwoods
Quote And it already had lots of chips in them. I wonder how they will repair them? The chips are fairly easy to patch. The precast company has all the color mixes and can send out small patch kits. When done correctly they are indistinguishable from the rest of the wall. Plus all the joints will end up getting caulked which helps hide some of the edge damage. 5 1

CREguy13
This faced a lot of weather delays last week, but overall it has been slower. Now that they're starting on the residential floors, it should be a noticeable change in pace.
wxman
Btw, I noticed yesterday for the first time that the rebar sticking up for the next floor is now visible from I-45 as you pass the aquarium.

j_cuevas713
With this, The Crawford, and Fairfield in South Downtown, I think regardless of the restaurant/bar closures, downtown is about to explode even more.
Texasota
I would love to see some street space, particularly around the 300 block of Main, opened up to pedestrian and outdoor dining use. Basically the following: Close southbound Main to cars from Commerce to Walker Close northbound Main to cars from Prairie to Rusk Convert angled parking on Franklin to outdoor dining space from Travis to Main. Convert one travel lane to parallel parking Narrow Travis to two travel lanes from Franklin to Texas Replace south street parking on Congress with outdoor seating from Travis to Fannin Narrow Prairie to one travel lane. All of it. Narrow Texas to two travel lanes Narrow Walker to two travel lanes
