Alice Blue recently announced it is closing its doors. The restaurant from Claire Smith closes in February.

As noted above, Alice Blue's unit is shown in recent leasing materials as available. The unit's address is 250 W 19th St, Suite A. It's located in the mini shopping hub at 238-250 W 19th St.

Below is a post about it from another topic:

More details from Houston Chronicle about Alice Blue closing next month:

“My lease on 19th Street is ending, my son is a sophomore at Rice, and the time seems right for enjoying life. You never know, I may want a coffee shop one day. But for now, I will be watching all the amazing things happening in the Houston restaurant scene," Smith said.

The unit previously home to Alice Blue is leased. A restaurant named Agnes and Sherman (or Agnes & Sherman) is coming soon to 250 W 19th St, Suite A.

Agnes and Sherman will be a "modern Asian American diner," according to a February announcement on one of the co-owner's Linkedin page. The restaurant comes from chef Nick Wong and Lisa Lee. The duo aim to open by year's end.

Also, there is a web domain and Instagram for the restaurant.

Agnes and Sherman is part of the collection of shops and eateries at 238-250 W 19th St in the Heights.

Below is more on Agnes and Sherman from the restaurant's LinkedIn page.

Agnes and Sherman is coming later this year to 250 W 19th St, Ste A. It's taking over Alice Blue's former digs. The restaurant bills itself as a "modern Asian American diner."

From the restaurant's LinkedIn page:

Agnes and Sherman is a Modern Asian American Diner located in the heart of Houston, Texas. Our mission is to deliver a nostalgic, whimsical, and inclusive dining experience through the lens of Asian American food; and by doing so, expand the definition of American culture.

Agnes and Sherman is the culmination of Chef Nick Wong’s fifteen years in the restaurant industry – from fine to casual dining – showcasing his take on flavor, technique, and creativity, to serve dishes that are truly accessible and joyful.

Both Asian American food and diner culture are uniquely American. Agnes and Sherman aims to weave the two together to create an experience rooted in nostalgia and presented in a whimsical, genre-defying format.

Beyond the food, Agnes and Sherman will lead by example the principles of sustainable longevity. We embrace our role as a part of an ecosystem and when we thrive, our community does too.

Ultimately, Agnes and Sherman will be best known as the city’s favorite neighborhood spot that’s expanding the meaning of Americana, telling stories through standout dishes and incorporating socially responsible business practices as a way to promote equality and equity in our society.

Yesterday, CultureMap and Chron.com reported plans for the former Alice Blue unit. The space will house Agnes and Sherman. It's a new restaurant from Nick Wong (UB Preserv) and Lisa Lee.

Neither publication offered additional information beyond what's detailed on the restaurant's LinkedIn page.

Shop Companies updated the site plan for the collection of shops and eateries at 238-250 W 19th St. It was included to marketing materials sometime last week.

Some observations:

  • The most recent site plan no longer shows the Sweet Bribery unit (250 W 19th St, Suite E) available for lease.

  • Alice Blue's former unit  (250 W 19th St, Suite A) is leased. As mentioned in above posts, a new restaurant named Agnes and Sherman is leasing the unit.

  • The 1,089 sf space fronting Rutland St remains available for lease. It's shown as unit 250-10 on the site plan.

Last month, 2X Studio announced it will involved in the design for a new restaurant concept replacing Alice Blue. The name of the restaurant was provided at the time. However, the name of the restaurant is Agnes and Sherman. It's opening at 250 W 19th St, Suite A.

Recently closed Alice Blue after 20+ years of service. Here for measuring day for a new restaurant concept. We hope to help our clients become an integral part of the food service industry in the Heights Community.

An 1-story occupancy inspection report was purchased yesterday for 250 W 19th St, Suite D.

Details from the permit:

  • Use: NC / Occupancy retail 1-1-2-M-B '12 IBC/17023744
  • FCC Group: Non-residential alteration

It seems the permit pertains to the space once occupied by Urban Float. The unit has since been divided following Urban Float's departure. What's left is a 1,089 sf retail space along Rutland St.

Leasing materials for 238-250 W 19th St were last updated this spring. So, Suite D is still shown as available. I'm unsure if the occupancy inspection report means the unit is leased.

Houston Heights Stationery Ventures LLC is the listed occupant on the permit.

238-250 W 19th St is a collection of shops and eateries located in The Heights.
