Miss America?

Recommended Posts

what would possible venues be?  (or would galveston have to build?)

Well, the venues would certainly have to be either of the two convention centers here in town. I'd imagine they'd have to expand considerably, but I don't know if this would be a worthy or feasible venture for the city. Just throwing the idea around for conversation's sake.

I think Galveston should pursue it if they have the right venues already built. Personally though, I think the best Texas city to hold a paegent is South Padre. San Antonio too.

I think the best in America would be Vegas.

I agree with Vegas, but why Padre?

Galveston current venues...

I was reading a news account (possibly CNN.com or AJC.com) of Miss America leaving Atlantic City due to severe financial difficulties, mostly resulting from losing the tv contract with ABC, and it stated that the tv rights now belong to Country Music Television (CMT) and most likely the pageant is going to end up in Nashville, Tennessee.

Yeah, I read Nashville, or the pageant could possibly bounce around a few cities.

Too bad common sense lost out and there ended up being two separate convention centers in Galveston. Both look very nice and new, but surely the city would be able to attract more convention business with one facility the size of both of those put together.
