Port Director Michael Mierzwa said Monday only a few pieces left to complete on the terminal, including the installation of an awning and of decorative metal panels on the side of the building." Mayor Yarbrough told the audience that the City of Galveston is striving to be Galveston Proud! The new Transportation Terminal is open.The fixed route trolley service is coming back and there will be new amenities along the route. Rubber tire trolley buses will also be deployed to compliment the fixed route service and provide new connections in the city. The resolution supports a partnership between Texas City, Galveston, and Galveston County to pursue funding for an intercity bus service between Galveston, Texas City and Houston METRO’s Bay Area Park & Ride. The initial commitment for Texas City is $20,000 for two years.
