Houston19514
Macy's hcad account http://hcad.org/reco...^&bld=1&tab=2Some form of Macy's or foleys owned it through 2006 when 1110 Main Partners took over. Thanks for that info. The discussion in the master plan refers to Macy's landlord, etc, making it sound as if their is an independent third party that owns the building. From the Cincinnati address of 1110 Main Partners, LP, I would venture to guess this is an LP owned by Macy's.
lockmat
I emailed the lady from the downtown management district that is mentioned in the culturemap article and she said she did not have any new information.

Word was tenants in the Americana Building were told their leases weren't going to be renewed, and that they should begin to look elsewhere. There's more to it than that, but, you get the gist. Morris Architects was alleged to be the designer of the new building/parking structure going in on that site.

Are you referring to the Macy's parking garage?(Most, if not all, of the ground level retail has already been closed in the American Building and Macy's parking garage building) Edited January 2, 2013 by Houston19514

ChannelTwoNews
Saw this in today's edition of Bisnow... "Kirby Grove"? Bo says Midway is about to launch 600k SF of office developments across a few projects. It's planning Kirby Grove, which will be the firm's first project in Greenway. (This is the first time we've heard a name for the development planned near Levy Park, which will include 240k SF of office and 300 multifamily units, word has it.)
lockmat
I think Kirby Grove has been on the planning commission agenda for a while now so hopefully they're pretty close to ground breaking.

I don't think they are on the office portion... I can't find my notes currently, but I think I remember a Q2-2014 ground breaking.

hoothrewpoo
exterior of the building is changing... I think. I recall a discussion about the geometry not being ideal for tenants.
lockmat
Do they want something less rectangular?
hoothrewpoo
No, it had something to do with the structure (again, going by memory), or column footings. I don't remember. to clarify, the interior geometry was the issue, not the exterior. Edited August 1, 2013 by hoothrewpoo

TowerSpotter
An Office campus is proposed by Midway and is to go up near Levey Park. Houston Chronicle: http://blog.chron.com/primeproperty/2013/09/vitol-set-to-occupy-new-upper-kirby-development/ International energy trading firm Vitol will anchor a new development planned in the Upper Kirby District, a developer announced Tuesday. Midway Cos. said it will build an office campus for the company on land near Levy Park at Richmond Avenue and Wakeforest Street, just west of Kirby Drive. The Vitol Group was founded in 1966 in the Netherlands. Globally, the company trades more than 5 million barrels of crude oil and oil products per day. Its posted revenue in 2012 of $303 billion. Chris Oliver and Trey Strake of Cushman & Wakefield represented Vitol, and Michael Anderson of Colvill Office Properties and Shon Link with Midway negotiated the office lease. No other details were immediately available. Houston-based Midway developed CityCentre in west Houston and recently purchased downtown’s Houston Pavilions, which it renamed GreenStreet. TowerSpotter
http://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/27333-levey-park/ But that is for Levey Park, this one says near levey park not on levey park. Unless Levey Park is suppose to be a campus? Edited September 3, 2013 by TowerSpotter
