Jax
I noticed on Saturday that something was going up Downtown at Pease and Chenevert. Anybody know anything about this?
totheskies
Yeah, I've seen this too. I think it's a branch bank location.

ChannelTwoNews
It's a small office building, and there was a piece in the Houston Business Journal last month on it.http://houston.bizjournals.com/houston/stories/2009/09/21/story3.htmlAt 20,000 square feet and three stories tall, the small exterior makes the structure at Pease and Chenevert unusual in itself. Upon completion, the interior will sport a decor not found in surrounding towers.
kylejack
I've been interested in that building barely E of that intersection. It had a for rent sign but I couldn't find anything on HAR or the commercial real estate sites. Edited October 19, 2009 by kylejack
Jax
Thanks sevfiv, that's the exact spot. It's a weird block because all 4 corners of that intersection are completely empty or abandoned and yet it's only 3 blocks from the Toyota Center. It didn't look huge but it's still definitely nice to see something go up in such an empty spot, especially in this economy.
barracuda
That's good to hear. I've been wondering when that section of DT would begin to develop.
LTAWACS
I wonder how this building will differ from others by sporting various interiors.
lockmat
It's a small office building, and there was a piece in the Houston Business Journal last month on it.http://houston.bizjo.../21/story3.html Real estate broker David Cook of Cushman & Wakefield of Texas Inc. says Portfolio paid less than $45 per-square-foot in a part of downtown where dirt goes for about $75 per-square-foot.“He got a great deal,” says Cook, who is marketing land for sale in the area. “I don’t know of anything that cheap downtown.”How the heck do you get such a good deal in downtown? Sort of shoots down the thought that only high-rises can go downtown. Seems like the money he's saving in a taller building is going into making everything else really nice. Not sure that makes up the difference, but still. Even without a rendering, I'm excited about this one.

LTAWACS
Looks like a good lil building. Hopefully, it will attract other activity ala Discovery Green.
kylejack
Wasn't there a music venue over on this side of downtown way back when? Its just emptiness now, maybe it burned down or something, but I thought someone mentioned something like this. Something Hall maybe?
