sheeats
Houston Restaurant Week is almost here, y'all. There are 52 restaurants participating this year, from high-end to family-oriented and from new to old. The restaurants are offering a $35 prix-fixe menu that includes an appetizer, main course and dessert. Some of the restaurants have a fixed menu, others have a choice of dishes. Some are throwing in a decanter of wine for free with your meal! $5 of each meal goes directly to the End Hunger Network, which provides nutritious meals to needy people throughout Houston (especially seniors). $35 doesn't include tax, beverages or gratuity, but it's not a lot of money compared to what you'd normally spend on a three course meal at some of the restaurants (like VOICE, *17, Gravitas, Jasper's, La Colombe d'Or, Cafe Annie, etc.) The website is here: http://www.houstonrestaurantweek.com/ The menus are here: http://www.houstonrestaurantweek.com/Menus-2008.htm If you've been waiting for the perfect time to try out a new restaurant, or an expensive one that you normally wouldn't dine at, this is it! jayshoota
We did it last year and it really was worth it. Some of these places you can't get a main meal for $35 let alone other courses with it. The only bad part is the wine bill starts to add up....

Joke
keep your eyes peeled for a charming and strikingly handsome young man in his mid 20's. Wow, frickin' sweet! I'm afraid options will be limited, though, as wife is vegetarian. Thanks for another heads-up, sheeats!
sheeats
Wow, frickin' sweet! I'm afraid options will be limited, though, as wife is vegetarian. Thanks for another heads-up, sheeats! No prob! It's all for a good cause. There are a few vegetarian options on the menus... Amerigo's is serving an entree called Daglia & Fieno: spinach and tomato linguini with prosciutto, pine-nuts, and squash in an orange curry cream emulsion. I'm sure they could leave the prosciutto out and it would still be delicious. Daily Review Cafe, one of my favorites, is serving an entree of oven-roasted mushroom ravioli: blended portobello and crimini mushrooms with roasted garlic, onions, parmesan and mozzarella cheese and a Madeira mushroom sauce. La Strada is doing a mushroom risotto entree. Open City is doing a spinach fettucinie with seasonal veggies. And Spindletop is doing a rainbow stracci pasta with artichoke hearts and portabellini mushrooms in a golden tomato sauce with feta cheese. Hope this helps!
