A 2006 not guilty verdict is gone thanks to a new ruling from a higher court.

Hideki Hachitani and Yasuko Momii, Japanese air traffic controllers, have to go to Japanese prisons.

In 2001 the missteps of the two meant that two Japanese jets, a B747 headed for Okinawa from Tokyo's Haneda Airport and a DC10 headed for Narita from Busan, South Korea nearly collided in midair. The 747 pilot suddenly forced his jet to dive to avoid hitting the DC10; this maneuver injured some of the passengers and after the airplane turned around and landed at Haneda some passengers had to go to the hospital.
