Guest micah9
Does anyone know what's the going rate for finishing a basement per sqft? I thought about doing it myself as a DIY project, but lately I got busy at work and I am exploring options to hire experienced and licensed general contractors for the home project. silverartfox
There's at least one house in Eastwood and one house in Broadmoor with full or partial basements. Unfortunately, I don't know the owners well enough to make inquiries for you. Bill England/The Garland Company has restored a number of houses in Eastwood and may know of a referral. The Old House Journal website has an excellent forum that may provide some how-to information. I hope that your basement stays dry! Please tell us a little more about your house - after visiting family in the PacNW this past summer, I've developed a terrible case of "basement envy". Ross
A lot of the houses in Montrose have basements. I've been in several on avondale, and there's several on Lovett and Courtlandt. Keeping them dry is a big issue, and the cost to waterproof a 100 year old basement is high. The basements were the original area for furnaces and water heaters. Mr. Chenevert
I did a quick search for Lovett on HAR, and sure enough one of the homes listed has a basement. Ironically, the foundation is listed as being slab.I love how they pay attention to the details when filling out the har forms.

I'm from KC and every basement I've been in is a slab foundation...

Back to basements, I wonder what this one is used for and its current condition.
