Montrose1100
I hope Houston's will look just as nice.
mls1202
Given the fact that the one in Houston has to accommodate the Stowers building on the block, it will undoubtedly have some L-shaped configuration.
Captain Impossible
How come they released the rendering with the announcement up there and not here?
editor
This was on Agoraphoria's Chicago forum a couple of weeks ago. The building looks nice, but it's going to be hard to build. The location where it sits, aside from being at the location where the Chicago River, the North Branch of the Chicago River, and the South Branch of the Chicago River come together -- it will also have to straddle both an Amtrak and a Metra commuter rail line. Very heavily traveled ones, too. Of course, it's not the first Chicago skyscraper to be built floating above railroad tracks. Boeing's headquarters in Chicago also hovers above the same Amtrak tracks, and was one of the pioneers of the concept of "air rights." It's the reason for the truss structure on the roof: More importantly, the Boeing Headquarters has a kicking gift shop. But back on topic: This Hines building is nice, but just two days ago plans were announced for three new towers on Wolf Point, which is the tiny piece of land you see jutting into the river on the left. They will pretty much block 50% the Hines project's most valuable views.
The Great Hizzy!
I amuse myself, because I keep thinking that the building's design sort of looks like a giant container of Speedstick or Right Guard. I think it's the concave shapes at the top and bottom.
