TJones
That is the Alien Space Craft landing facility. They only use the place every other Tuesday, unless it rains, and then it is every other Thursday, unless there is a K of C meeting, then they move it to the third Monday of every fourth month. njvisitor
Thanks marmer, but I think TJones knows more than you about those towers. Maybe next time...
Ptarmigan
TV and radio towers. From Wikipedia:One collapsed in 1982 during construction, killing five people. It was for KTXH-TV. Those antennas are very tall. http://ethics.tamu.edu/ethics/tvtower/tv3.htm

houstonmacbro
You can see them for many miles at night.
dalparadise
I fly out of the airport just south of those towers. They are always on my mind. They are about 2000' tall and provide a nice beacon home to the airport at night. They are also a good gauge of the cloud ceiling -- as the minimum for visual flight in our pattern is a 1500' ceiling. I can stand in front of the terminal at the airport and look toward those towers to check the sky easier and more reliably than checking the local weather. If I can see the tops of the towers, it's legal to fly around the pattern and practice landings, at least.
Ptarmigan
I notice there are a lot of antennaes around Missouri City and Stafford. I notice there is one antennae that has red strobing lights at night. I believe it is part of the Missouri City Antenna Farm. I also notice a lot of antennas in Northwest Houston.
