Anyone remember this? It was a big hill with a waterslide...right at the northern end of North Shepherd, as it dead-ends at 45 north. It was right behind the K-Mart, which faced Little York Rd.

Yes, I remember it well. There was also a Malibu speedway place there as well. The waterslide existed from around 1979 to maybe 1982? It wasn't there for long. Seems like the Malibu lasted until the mid 1980s before they sold the land for a Home Depot.

It had two slides, which went down either side of the hill. Can't remember the name of it. I didn't put it in my Aldine area history report because that's not AISD, although it's not but two miles from where I lived and I rode my bike there all the time. I had no luck finding it on HCAD, but then as the ownership records only go back to 1988, it probably wouldn't appear on there anyway.

I think I only rode the slide twice or maybe three times at most. Mainly I hung out there to play video games and to check out the girls.

Wait a minute. There was a Home Depot at I-45 and N. Shepherd? I don't remember it, but I do remember the K-Mart there at Victory and Little York before it closed in the early 90's.

Water Coaster of Houston and later Home Depot #575 were located at 7710 North Shepherd. According to HCAD, Water Coaster of Houston is listed as the owner of the land until 1/2/85 when Home Depot took it over, but I think the water slide was closed long before then.

I can find no record on HCAD for the adjoining Malibu race track. That's probably because the land for the water slide and the land for the Malibu were joined for the Home Depot and are now just part of one record (7710 North Shepherd) rather than two.
