there's either been a change in plans, or there's a good misinformation campaign going on. Now they're saying 7:10 a.m. Is when boom goes the dynamite.

this is SWEET! Somebody pinch me...
no. you might enjoy it too much
-
there is equipment on site now, and a fence
-
yeah, they were installing the marble in the bathrooms at Gertner's the last time I borrowed HP's lift- that was about 3 weeks ago
-
as the baby boomers age, more medical space will be required. TMC will run out of room before demand for space subsides.

reminds me of Kowloon, the Walled City in China

Which end is north?
the ramp that goes under the bleachers is the north point. the stadium lies on downtown's southwest/northeast axis
-
those big holes look like they're spaced for a deconstruction crane
-
it's a render pasted in to where the BotSW Tower was to be built

your privacy blinds are already going up... i give it another month before it's full blown total window coverings!

the Block 265 tower was supposed to be 90ish floors... the FAA probably would have made them reduce that to 75 like they did with the Texas Commerce Bank tower..
Block 265, according to a map printed in the Houston Post back in the late 70's, was directly across Bagby from the Doubletree
Traffic in Houston was BAD in the early 80's- much worse than now! Can you imagine how bad it would have been if there were an additional 30000 people working downtown in BOTSW, Block 265, and the also never built Campeau tower?

was it east of the Hardy, or just west of it?
I remeber playing at a strip club's Christmas party back in the 80's- the club was called Executive Suites. That joint was west of the Hardy

there was a Weingarten's at Murphy Rd and 59, across the street from Randall's #7 (where I got my first job the day before I turned 16 in '80)

they never tore the building down because the foundation is so thick that not even a nuke would break it apart
a bud of mine did a structural survey on the place right after Fingers closed the first time. He was amazed at how overengineered the place was

Just got back from the Pavilions and was blown away by how much space NRG now occupies. They are not just in the tower, but are also on the ground floor and a big chunk of the second floor. You can literally walk up to their offices and be creepy by staring at employees working at their desks... or stand in at their board room. Just added pics of it on InnerLooped. The offices are really cool looking btw.
yeah... NRG has the entire 9 floor office building, and three floors of what was going to be retail space.
I checked out the construction every day as I walked from the parking garage to (in the day) and stumbled back after work at night

they have blocked off a couple of lanes on Polk street, so major deconstruction is probably under way

yeah... if the walls of the recently closed Lucky Village at Westheimer and Fountain View could talk, they would blow your mind...
1) the completion of many west side roads, ie, Wilcrest, Dairy Ashford
2) Cardi's
3) the explosive growth of Ft Bend County
4) Backstage
5) the Axiom
6) Judy's! I had forgotten about that place! My friends Carmen and Angela used to drag me there with them all the time
7) Dream Merchant!!! I bought most of the tools that lead to the wreckage that has become my life there- and I wouldn't change a thing!
8) Rockers, Struts, Corners, and the other rock clubs whose names I don't remember because they kinda mattered but really didn't!
