Unfortunately, the only reason the developers clear cut trees is because various environmental and flood control regulations basically require them to do so for homes on lots that are affordably-sized.
True.
Keeping wooded lots (i.e.: The Woodlands, Kingwood) results in a much higher priced product, and it's nearly impossible to do anywhere south of these areas due to the need for positive drainage. You achieve this drainage by building up the lots and you can't fill a lot with 2 feet of dirt when the lot is full of trees.

Has anyone noticed how these drivers have NO regard for the law? They speed, cut people off, hold up traffic... don't use turn signals and act like they're imune to the law?
I don't see how someone could not notice this. How about when they cut through a parking lot to avoid a light -- AT 50 MPH...!!!
One of these days they are going to T-Bone someone or hit some pedestrians while doing this crap in a parking lot.

Yep, he's still on weekends on the arrow.

Does anyone at all remember Scooby Doo's Pipe Organ Pizza? It was located in the Greenspoint area of town from the late 1970's through the early 80's.
Yes, my siblings had many birthday parties there.

Hey folks,
I am curious to know if anyone knows of what looks to be a very large, old house, with a tin roof, that seems to be staying put in spite of clearing the land around it...it's on the northwest corner, set back a ways, with no direct road to it that I can see....anyway it's more on W. Little York than anywhere else but you can see it from Hwy 6, that interesection there.
As you might have guessed, land owners don't clear land and bring in fill for nothing. It cost $$$$ --- Hint, what retail store goes up on what seems like every corner along Hwy 6/FM1960? They sell the same stuff that the store on the opposite corner with initials for it's name sells. Also, look for a mirror of the 6/529 intersection at 6/WLY
As far as the house. I don't know of any immediate plans to demolish it, but as that corner development continues - I'm sure it will be done.

Mass transit to/from where???????
I don't claim to know hundreds or thousands of people, but of all the people I know that commute to another part of town, MT would help none of them because ZERO of them work in the CBD
Here is a sample commute for some that I know...
LIVE -> WORK
Friendswood -> Med Center
Spring -> 290 (inside belt)
Copperfield -> Greenspoint
Humble -> 290 (at belt)
Spring -> 290/610
If they had 10 rail lines running today from IAH, Hobby, Woodlands, Kingwood, East Hou, Katy, Fairfield, Clear Lake, Sugarland, and Pearland all into downtown Houston - it wouldn't help any of those people.
Houston is too spread out and too few people work in the CBD for MT to work. Maybe Houston should encourage businesses to get off 290/Greenspoint/etc. and move downtown.... The more people you have in one place - the easier it is to move those persons.
