Below is a rendering of Chardon's dining room shared in a Facebook group.

Chardon is a French brasserie that's planned for Thompson Hotel / Thompson Houston.  It's scheduled to open this summer at 1717 Allen Parkway (address may also be 1711 Allen Pkwy.)

It's got a cool old school 1940s look to it or something.

    That seems... astounding.

I wonder if the buyers are all future residents? Does anyone know if the HOA rules prohibit renting, short or long term? I'm thinking maybe people buying as an investment property, with intentions to rent?

Because $250MM is an unbelievable number.

I think a long term rentals will likely be allowed for a small percentage of the units but I doubt short term rentals are allowed.

Since we probably all need a break from the Whitmire doomscrolling, some thoughts on East River:

Yeah, none of it is open. Yeah, every merchant there will be too expensive for most of the closest current residents (or my own midtown self) to frequent.

But here's the thing - I have never, in my entire life, seen an unfinished construction project as open to the public as this (of course, I've never been to the Sagrada Familia). I saw at least ten other people there during my tenish minutes there this afternoon.

Was that you on the motorbike? I drove by there around 4 and saw someone touring. .

My first time there since it was a just cleared field and they've really transformed it.

  4. I'm glad this project is not just one block or even a few blocks close together but something much bigger. That being said, I'm not sure how this will work with quite a few blocks in between them that are not part of the project? I assume they're just hoping that future development will be spurred because of them?

Thompson Hotel website states they are opening November 29th.

    "Important Notice

Now accepting reservations for stays from November 29, 2023 and beyond."

I guess the Paper City Mag link is correct. I went to the Thompson Houston hotel website and it now says

    Important Notice

    Opening December 21, 2023

Are they planning on keeping that giant surface parking lot forever? Feels kinda pointless to build a skinny highrise if you're still gonna have a huge footprint like that...

I was told that eventually an acre of that parking lot be converted into a green space/park that sits between the current pavilion and the future mixed-use that will be built in the back where the sales center is currently.

Wow, nice shots, cityliving! This building looks awesome, it’s cool how it kind of melts into the horizon like that. It’s a unique building, it’s kind of retro and futuristic at the same time. It will be really neat once they’re done.

Stay safe and cool out there!!

It's nice to see some positive comments. So many cynical comments all the time on HAIF.
