On another subject, I think Houston need some simple good urban sushi places like they have in JAPAN and west coast cities like Seattle, San Fran etc. None of those $15 dollar fancy rolls. I just fish, udon bowls, yakatori etc. There used to be a nice one in downtown few years ago where a bar now sits across from House of Blues. Oiishi is the closest simple but good Japanese place I have found in the city area but it is far away (Richmond @ Timmons) for a regular outing. I am not sure if the pretenious elements moving to Midtown lately will ever concieve of such concepts.

You're referring to an izakaya! A Japanese tapas-style restaurant. I loved going to those when I used to live in Japan! The one they used to have in downtown was called Daiji's, but has been replaced by Reserve 101.

I need to make more effort to pay attention to my e-mails at work. I work at the Enterprise building and an e-mail was sent out to all tenants at the end of January letting us know that we will be participating in the Cities Go Red to raise awareness for women and heart disease.

At night they also turn the lights red under the trees in our (newly built!) plaza.

I think it would've been cool to see other buildings downtown participate!

I noticed this last night. I live right by downtown and I can see the skyline from my apartment, but last night I had a "was that there before and I'm just noticing it now?" moment. Apparently it is in fact new!

It would be funny if it was for Valentine's day because those same buildings didn't don festive lights during Christmas or July 4.

My friend who works at Morris (the architects designing the project) just told me today that pretty much everybody in the studio who was assigned to the project were laid off. From his understanding, the project is going to be on hold for at least another year. Without the design team, I

They're opening up an American Apparel store on 909 Texas. Kind of an odd place to put a new store... I don't really think that area in downtown caters to its targeted customers.

Actually. Scratch that. Just looked at the AA website and it no longer has the downtown location listed as opening soon; they just took it out completely. (?)

Would love to see an H&M though. When is it going to be OUR turn? Every other major metropolitan city has one EXCEPT Houston. Or Texas, rather. A Zara would be fab too!

And is Forever 21 going to open on Thursday as well? I have a party that evening and need a new dress!
