  1. This place looks sort of like the nearby Dogwood but is much bigger.  It's huge.  It looks like an indoor bar, an outdoor patio area, and 2 rooftop areas.  It is really coming along.  But, I wonder how Midtown can absorb the people needed to fill this place along with all the other bars around.  Business must really be booming.

  2. I walked by the old El Patio Xuco Xicana restaurant and they were putting up new siding over the aluminum addition that was build a few years ago.  I always hated the aluminum addition.  It looked REALLY tacky.  But, the new siding actually looks really good.  I don't know if that means a new tenant is moving in or if the owner is doing his own renovations.

  3. I really hope the owner of Open City/Cheerz is NOT involved. That place was incredibly tacky and brought in a terrible crowd. They had to have cops outside the place on weekends, including Sundays. I always had people yelling and fighting or flying down the road during their Sunday Fundays. Open City/Cheerz almost killed that entire block.

  4. This was one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to. I've lived in Midtown for several years so I found myself going many times, usually not my decision. They had the worst service. On top of that, when I was there last time, they were blatantly racist to the black tables in my area. They also lied about running out of fish. They were obviuosly saving it for a bachelorette party. When they didnt order it, they said they had run to the store to get more. But it was magically cooked within 5 min. I could go on and on. I'm happy they are gone.

  5. Well, the point of my post was not zoning. Just that a lot of new people having been coming into Midtown lately and there has been a noticeable uptick in rowdiness, reckless driving, and polluting. I think it's a phase but may last a few years before Midtown becomes more of a local hangout again.

  6. I hate to say it but the crowd going out to Midtown bars has gotten sketchier over the past few months. Loud, drunk people from other neighborhoods are starting fights, playing excessively loud music in their cars, and driving way too fast on crowded streets. For a while, Midtown was dominated by neighborhood bars but now kids are coming in from the burbs like they did on Washington. There are empty beer bottles in front of my place almost daily and there never used to be. Some of the visitors have no respect for the residents. Very sad to hear about this poor woman.

  7. I went there 2 nights ago. I liked the overall concept and atmosphere. Their specialty drinks were not worth the money though. Bad recipes and come in a jar full of ice. If I'm paying 10 bucks for a drink, I don't want 15 ice cubes melting in it as I drink it. I think the place has potential if they iron out the kinks.

  8. I'll be going to Potbelly, Chipotle, and Starbucks regularly. I'd be happier if we had some great local restaurants in there but oh well. Potbelly will be the best sandwhich shop in Midtown, Chipotle will be the only burrito place, and Starbucks will have the best coffee within walking distance.

  9. I like the way it is now. Midtown is diverse but the scene is laid back. I just don't want it to be the place where people look like they are trying way too hard. I loved it when the dudes wearing shades, super tight jeans, and bedazzled shirts took off to Washington. Please don't come back.

  10. I think Dogwood will be a cool place but will pull in a bad crowd for the first year. No idea about this 3rd Floor thing but hopefully it won't be a club. I don't think the Union spot will ever be a good spot. They should blow it up and start over.
