  1. "The Houston-based real estate investment, development and management company said Friday that it has entered into negotiations with Z Resorts to build a Hotel ZaZa at Memorial City.

Dallas-based Z Resorts LLC will operate and manage the luxury boutique hotel. Z Resorts also has Hotel ZaZa locations in Houston’s Museum District and Dallas.

An unnamed source recently told CultureMap that MetroNational was planning a new mixed-use center anchored by a Hotel ZaZa and a Whole Foods at the southwest corner of Interstate 10 and Bunker Hill Road.

Public documents show MetroNational recently filed a construction permit with the city of Houston valued at $1.8 million. The permit is for 963 Bunker Hill Road, which is at the southwest corner of I-10 and Bunker Hill. It’s also directly across I-10 from an H-E-B and a block east of Memorial City Mall.

MetroNational's Friday news alert did not specify where the Hotel ZaZa at Memorial City might be built, and a spokesperson for the company was not immediately available."

  2. I am not sure what company my friends used, but the quote was similar to yours. So we decided to do it ourselves. We removed all the carpet on the first floor, removed all base boards and cut sheetrock approx. 24" up all over the first floor. It was a lot of work, but when you're doing it to your own home, or in this case a friend's home, it's makes it a little more fun when you add a little vodka to the gatorade. hahaha. It took us a whole weekend, 2 guys, sheetrock knife, hammer, flat head screwdrivers, and 1 guy smoking a brisket on the Sunday. well deserved meal, felt like the last supper. Now on to adding microbial solution, at this point we will probably hire someone to get it completely protected, but is there such a thing?

Its been a long fricking past 4 weeks. Got flooded as well... 6 inches, no insurance. I acted quickly in getting all water out and called kiwi restoration surfaces and they brought in some industrial dehumidifiers that day. Only cost a few hundred bucks for 72 hrs. I removed the wood trim along the base boards to help the floors/walls breath. Brought in some buddies industrial floor fans and I managed to save my wood floors (tho they will need to be sanded and redone). But we still had to cut 24 inches up throughout the house. I used a quarter bleach, rest water to treat affected areas. Worked great and it was cheap. I had to also gut out my entire garage, as it backs up to the creek. I have everything almost put back together. Me and a buddy have done everything basically ourselves save the cabinetry work. The manroge is almost complete and the work is slowing down. Rooms are all redone and smooth, kitchen and bathrooms are upgraded, and the garage is almost ready for a poker game. All in all, with all the work done ourselves, upgrades (new paint, cabinets, countertops, garage rewiring, etc, etc).... the fix/rennovation will cost around 10 k total. Its been a rough road, but its all starting to pay off FINALLY. No way I would have paid any restoration service that much without insurance.

  3. I've been quoted $150/sf for concrete countertops. OUCH!

Im in same boat. 1955 house. Flooded last month, redoing pretty much everything. Down to countertops in Kitchen and Bathrooms. Got custom cabinets built already. Cant decide on where to go from here. Budget is a bit tight after long list of projects. Is ceramic tile totally out these days? Granite tiles even worth it to save money over slabs? I presume the recycled option is rather expensive?

Right now the kitchen floor tiles are somewhat off white. Other than that I am trying to come up with a cool color scheme. I do have a wood panel dining area connected to kitchen painted all white currently. Do I go dark stained cabinets? Dark countertops? Guess thats more of a personal preference.... I just suck at it.

I am also looking into tin as a possible backsplash option as well. Anyone hip to this? http://www.americantinceilings.com/backspl...CFQ_yDAode0s-Bw

  4. in case it hadn't already been mentioned...

Lupe Tortilla Mexican Restaurant leased 4,000 square feet in the Echo Lane Shopping Center at Interstate 10 and Echo Lane. Jim Smith Jr. and Matt Strange of Smithco Development represented both the tenant and the landlord.

AWESOME. There are renovations being done next to Kobe Japanese restaurant....and I was wondering what it was going to be. A Lupe Tortillas would be brilliant.

  5. when it opens later this yr, 2 people total will be enough with the ez tag. you will have to make sure and notify the hctra that you are a carpool and the ride will be free.

I wouldnt worry too much about it. I-10 is scheduled to be completed for the most part end of Oct. When I was driving from 610 to Katy a few weeks back during rush hour... right around Hwy 6 when the completed lanes were open all the way out to Katy.... I shot out of the traffic like a sling shot and flew the rest of the way. The completed I-10 is going to make a world of difference imo... and its going to be done soon!

  6. Whaaaaaa!!!!!

What happened to Buffalo Wild Wings? They were on the prelim tenant list, now Corner Bakery? A good sports bar would be nice to have around here. Nothing to crazy but somewhere to watch the big shows.

I hated to hear this too. Supposedly since HEB owns the entire plaza.... they do not want any sports bars there. And Mr. C has apparently he had a very hard time trying to relocate in the area over the past couple of years (he saw the writing on the wall a while back) due to Memorial City owning most of the property from basically bunker hill to the beltway. I think most of my sports bar business will be headed towards Bubbas on Washington for now.

  7. Looks like the shopping center at the Northeast corner of Blalock and Westview is getting a much needed makeover.

Saw that myself. Definitely much needed. I am loving my purchase in the area... things are a changing. If only the apartments around here would go... the values in this area would absolutely skyrocket if that happened.

  8. I noticed last week that Bunker Hill Lanes is getting an upgrade inside and out. I have to say that it is much needed. Also, the shopping center next to Spec's seems to be slowly closing up. The only tenants remaining are Village Dry Cleaning (I believe that is the name), La Hacienda, and a few random places. I checked Metro National and noticed they have no information as to the happenings.

I have heard that the center, as well as Charlie's, is to be razed. As to when and what will be replacing, know one knows.

    Any information?

I occaisionally have a drink at Mr. C's in that little center. The Bartenders said that its only a matter of time. They are fighting it... but it looks as though they are going to lose the bar within the next year.... making way for a new shopping center apparently.

  9. Any deck building experience out there??

I have an older house... and want to add a 12x18 deck in back with railing and benches. I just got a quote from a friend to complete for 3200 w 2100 of that being all labor. I have really no clue how to build one myself. Would it be better just to go ahead and eat the costs to have it done right?? Or try to figure this thing out with the help of friends who know a thing or two and try to save some cash??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

BTW.... is 3200 a good price for treated lumber, hand rails, benches, and steps???

  10. From what I understand, they've been doing some mild renovation work over the past couple of weeks. I have no idea of the specifics, however,

    Here is the article:

    Link

As part of that effort, MetroNational had purchased the Radisson Suite Hotel Houston West at the southeast corner of Interstate 10 and Beltway 8. That property will now be converted into The Four Points by Sheraton Houston, Memorial City, a 170-room hotel that is expected to open this summer.
  11. Huh? This isn't new. I saw this building before Lakewood ever came to the Compaq Center. I believe the project has been canceled.

Thats why I asked...just found this forum recently. I figured as much and thanks for the update! I guess Packard Chilton just needs to do the same.
