  1. There was a Shell station a little further south along hwy 6, just past where fm2154 intersects, I don't remember the name of it though. Used to be a sore spot for wrecks as people were pulling in/out. The only store I remember that was actually on fm2154 near hwy 6 was Annies? but seems like it was called something else too. Annies (or whatever it was called) was not there for very long (a few years maybe?). The Shell had been there for as long as I could remember.

  2. Any of you B/CS people 40+ in age remember the names of some of the restaurants that was near the old Weingartens grocery store? IIRC it was a square to rectangle building, sat between Texas ave and South Main, had glass entry door(s), had steps you had to go up to get to the door. One set of doors faced the tracks. I don't really remember what type of food/beverage they served, it might've even had a saloon type atmosphere. Time era would've been the 70's?

  3. I think that the area where Taco Casa is, at the corner of Wellborn and Rock Prairie, used to be Sonic. I'm pretty sure it was A&W before that. Am I right?

Yes it was. However it was the current modern day A&W thats still around in other cities. The other poster was referring to the old original A&W drive in where they would bring your drinks out to your car on the trays that would hang off your car door window.

  4. A&W Rootbeer drive in Pretty close to where sonic is at Texas and University.

Buccaneers drive in down south college in Bryan.

Fish and chips blace across from the defunct Kroger\Holiday Inn\The Forum\HEB in Bryan.

    Now a car dealership.

I think Buppys was a fish Place before it was Farmer's Market.

Are you talking about the fish place that was next door to the old Ken Martins place had like a windmill on the front? It was called Zyder Zee

There was also another fish/chips place on the west side of Texas ave a little south of there called Alfie's

  5. Ahh yes Sam's Drive-In and Jack-n-Jill donuts. We went there a lot when I was a kid. Trying to remember though, did Sam's Drive-In turn into Jack n Jill or was Jack n Jill where Winchell's donuts was?

The hardware store you mention of was Central Texas hardware. I think prior to moving to the old Sears location at Townshire they were somewhere downtown Bryan.

Speaking of donuts, rememebr when Shipleys had a donut/hamburger place on South College, near Pepe's where "the Burger House" is?

  6. Maybe....Was that in the day of when Brookshire Bros grocery store was in the RT center, before Piggly Wiggly took over?

Beyond that the only Shell station I remember clearly was at the corner about where Panda Express is at right now. The only business I remember clearly that was in the middle of the parking lot was Short Stop hamburger place

No, Burdett & Son's was another tenant alongside Academy. Other tenants included Joe's Used Books, a furniture liquidators, Kolache Rolf's (I think they stuck around for a while), and Jason's Deli...they were more on the Charming Charlie side of the plaza (where CC is today) but they later moved to the other side of the building.

What about the Shell in the middle of the parking lot? Remember that?

  7. I don't think it was around very long. Does anyone remember what was in the Academy location (when it was at Remond Terrace) before Academy? Maybe it was there. I remember a Gibson's being there but what was there in between?

Nativehou: there used to be a Burdett & Sons sporting goods at Redmond but it was mainly a hunting store. There was also a Wyatt's in Culpepper plaza where Ricks sporting goods is (or was).

    Anyway... Thx
