  1. I shop at that HEB, and get my hair done at the Alan Murphy Salon. The only things that are open in that center are a bunch of restaurants, a toy store, the hair salon and a couple of shops I don't go to due to lack of interest.

It's really sad, this is a nice development but it's deserted. Even the Westin is a ghost hotel. The townhomes built in association with it are at a standstill. On the other hand, getting to/from the HEB is easy-peasy if you go the back way in because no one else is on those roads!

Nice to see the nature reserve going in

  2. Taco Cabana just opened on BW8 / West, just inside the beltway (next to the Walgreens). Now I can get my Mexican fix and only go through two stoplights :-)

Remington Square is almost finished. It looks very nice, but the traffic hasn't started yet. They need to put in a new stoplight at Fallbrook and whatever the road is that runs behind RS, or no one will ever get out of that development.

I wonder what fantastic eateries will open there? And fine shopping? I'm thinking Qwikee Mart and Lenny's Subs.

  3. Drove by today and noticed that the sign for Remington Square is still up.

Yes, indeed it is still there... I swear it was gone last Thursday!! However, down the back the signs are up that the land is for sale - and they're new signs. I can't figure out WHAT is going on with this.

I don't think anything would make us happy, though! :angry2:

  4. Drove by the lot the morning, the Remington Square sign is GONE and the plot of land is FOR SALE by Caldwell. I guess they figured out it was a crap location for something like this - especially now they've put up a huge new "industrial park" right across the street.

I'm sure this lot will be purchased and developed for something really useful, like a dog collar manufacturer or roller skate distrubution center.

  5. What size building is that office which will be built between Gessner and Windfern? Are you talking about the land with the fencing surroundings?

I'm talking about the parcel of land between Gessner/West and Windfern, on the north side (between the Exxon/apartments and flooring warehouse/Kroger).

They are building an "Office Park" with 383,000sf of "luxury office space". Right at the end of a residential road that cuts through to/from West Road.

My mother, who lives on that road (Red Wolf), is livid.

  6. I had lunch at Au Bon Pain today. It was excellent! Very good croissant, the filling was delicious, there's lots of seating, nice pastries - all and all an excellent addition to the paltry food offerings in the Medical Center.

On a slightly off topic note, I was VERY EXCITED to see that there is now a Brioche Doree on the second floor of the old Hermann building, near the walkway to the new tower!! I love that place when I'm in Europe, and they had things like Turkey Brie and Apple sandwiches - a nice change from standard boring American fare. They had delicious-looking pastries too.

What can I say, I like a good pastry!!

  7. Long-time lurker here, just joined up to give my 2 cents on this topic!

I live in Winchester Country, and I'm really very unhappy with all the new construction in my area - especially the new "Industrial Park" that is being built on Round Up, right behind the gi-normous Carpet Warehouse (not open to the public), which will no doubt mean even more 18-wheelers running up and down that residential street...

Lots of new apartments going up (behind the Walgreens on West inside BW8), there's a serious oversupply of crappy strip centers (all vacant) being built in the area, and now a huge new office building being built between Gessner and Windfern (psilverot mentions above). This area used to be fairly quiet, but the past few years have been unkind to trees up here.

    :( very sad
