  1. i bet a large part of the fund is gonig to refund parents for the college education. I know i wouldn't want to pay towards my childs education for another 10 years after he just died, plus i would probably want atleast some of the money back for the education. I don't know if parents are going to sue, but that could hurt the university too.

  2. Most UH alumni will agree that UH desparately needs more beds on campus. That will do a lot to help school spirit now and in the future...and spirited students turn into spirited (and giving) alumni!

I attend a lot of sporting events at UH and I work out there regularly...I would have to say that there's a lot more school spirit today than there was when I was there in the first half of the 90's. I'm very happy to see that...

I think most universities have seen a resurrgence in school pride and alumni pride. I don't know if it is the parody in sports, or just more people are enjoying their college experience because schools are becoming more progressive, but across the country alumni donations are up everywhere, and student activites academic or athletic are all up.

  3. Gary Kubiak in the April 9, 2007 issue of Sports Illustrated demonstrated a non-rantish frankness about the Texans playoff chances that isn't often seen in coaching ranks:

"Our supporting cast isn't good enough right now, and we're not going to put everything on [quarterback] Matt [schaub]. We feel good about our recent drafts and our offseason moves, but we still need a couple more drafts and off seasons before we're a playoff caliber team. We see Matt as one piece of the puzzle."

1 piece out of about 15 they need.

  4. The Texans have mention, "If Adrian Peterson drops to 10, they will not pass up that type of talent."

I would hope not, I think they would be better off moving up to #2 and trading with detroit, because detroit wants out of the #2 slot, and this way they can get joe thomas, but if they stay at 10 I think they have a good shot at AP.

  5. OG Cooper Carlisle (Broncos) visits the Texans. He started all 16 games last season for Denver. This will be his 8th year in NFL.

Texans also bringing in WR Andre' Davis.

they could use some new OL players, that is the most important part I think.

  6. You're right. He's only been to two back to back NBA Finals. He would be a two-time NBA champion if it wasn't for a certain Jordan beasting in Chicago.

I am talking recent years, you can't compare his malone stockton days, to his teams now. That was more players making it, than coaching I think. You can see he can coach a regular season well, but he can't do much else. Just like you can't say Kobe is a great playoff leader until he does well with the other people who were around him. You can't compare the past with the present so openly.

  7. Jerry Sloan has never really done anything special in the playoffs. JVG hasn't done much either, I think JVG ios more of an honorable coach especially in the eyes of his players. Hopefully he take sthe Utah Series and hopefully they still another series.

  8. tough schedule, only 1 back to back home games, but the plus they are never on the road for more than a week. Only one thursday game, so a bunch of day games... good for fans and people who work at the stadium I guess. Hopefully Schaab shows something .

  9. The team least likely to get a new stadiumare the Revolution, but even they are currently negotiating with the city of Boston to build in or near city limits. If they get a deal done, that could mean that EVERY MLS team has a real soccer stadium to play in within the next five years..in other words, no more football lines on some of the fields, more of a soccer environment at stadiums, and each team is able to make a profit each season. Even Chivas USA are talking about building a stadium for themselves and moving out of LA Galaxy's Home Depot Center.

That would be good to have 2 stadiums never LA, because the shared one in Carson is a little annoying I assume. Also for the revolution, they tried to build one on the East Providence waterfront in Rhode Island, but no colleges would sign on to help fill the stadium. The only options URI and Bryant. URI just built a new stadium, and Bryant is about 3 years away from DI eligiablity to move up, so they don't see a need in a stadium. Overall I would like to see the revolution hit another state either CT, NH, VT, ME or RI... just because everything is in Boston. I think the Krafts won't do it though. The Patriots almost moved to Providence before they built Gillette but he owns a BUNCH of land in foxboro that he won't be taxed on because of some deal. So I think they build their stadium on their land that they already own.

It would be nice to see all the MLS teams in soccer stadiums.

  10. Both the Astros and the Rockets suck like a fool right now. The positive that can come out of it, at least for Astros, is maybe they'll realize early on how desperately they need to fix things. I have tickets for the next Saturday game. Unless they improve and give me a reason to go, that's the only game I'll be attending this season.

Looks like the Wheeler move was a good move so far.

  11. DC United's new stadium will be 27,000. Also, Toronto's current stadium is at 20,000 seats, but there's already rumors of expanding it well over 30,000 because the games are already sold out.

thanks for the info, I have only followed the revolution, and they are in gillette and the fans look lost, and I know they are trying to get NY Redbulls, Revoultion and a few others into smaller parks, because of that.

  12. None whatsoever. It's safe to assume that the location of the stadium (Downtown, another part of Houston, Pearland, Sugarland) would directly affect the design and size of the stadium. If it's near the center of the city, it will probably be one of the biggest soccer stadiums in America. If it's in Pearland or Sugarland, we can expect it to be around 20,000 seats, and to accomodate high school football.

We can also assume that the day that they announce that a location has been agreed upon will probably be the day that we see the first rough-draft renderings. Seeing that this would be the first stadium built with the German league helping out on design, we can expect this to be a stand-out stadium in America.

I think MLS's idea is to not have more than 20-25,000 seats, so that the attendance doesn't look lost in football stadiums. I saw one or maybe a few teams us the FC Dallas stadium right?

  13. I agree. You'll also notice that event parking is much higher than on a normal day.

one example I have to confirm that is. I normally park in this lot for work, with the work pass it only costs me 3 dollars for the day. The same guy I see everyday I saw one night for a concert, even with the "special pass" that means I park there all the time it would still cost me 30 dollars for the concert. I decdied to find free parking, but I saw a lot of people going in anyway because they think they don't have options, or are to scared to look somewhere else, because they found something.

  14. When in doubt, Go Dynamo :)

Seriously, I do think both teams will improve. Besides, Rockets are a 1/2 game behind the Jazz, and jobs will be on the line soon if the Astros aren't able to turn things around within the next 5 games. Particularly Brad Lidge.

You can count on the Dynamo, and the rockets... especially compared to the texans and astros atleasthow this seaosn is going to be.

  15. parking isn't as profitable as you claim. i rarely pay if ever for parking downtown. while i don't go during the day weekdays, i might go on the evenings and there usually is parking avail. since meters are free in the evenings, you really don't ahve to look for it.

I think the biggest money making is during special events; games, concerts, etc... type things. Where people will pay whatever just because they want to be close, or they aren't used to the downtown area.
