  1. Any chance anyone out there knows what the current plans are for the unfinished strip center on Mason Rd and Cypresswood in the Fairfield Subdivision? Last heard Citibank got the property on foreclosure and had no plans to continue until the found a new buyer...not sure if that is accurate or not. Would appreciate any knowledge about the situation.

  2. Why not at Trader's Village? You're going to run into traffic problems it appears.

Very possibly but at Traders Village they were limited to 75 spots and with over 4000 homes many couldn't participate. Plus Fairfield is the only community on the Northwest side that didn't have a community garage sale

  3. I have friends in Blackhorse and they don't like it as much as they thought they would. They personally don't get a strong sense of community. Now if you do not have kids, that may not matter much. Stable Gate doesn't appear to be kept up as well as expected. Have you tried Lakes of Fairhaven? They have HUGE lots. Also, you mentioned that you don't like Fairfield, but it is only 1 exit past Blackhorse. We love it here!!

  4. According to this flyer, on page 6, it looks like a Steak and Shake might be going in on 290 and Spring Cypress near the Chic-Fil-A and Chilis.

Interesting...I wonder when this was updated. From my understanding Steak n Shake originally owned property on 290 & Spring Cypress to build their first location then "traded" it for the 1960 location. I wonder if the success of that store has them opening another?

  5. I guess that's where the Cheesecake Factory will be going

My understanding from someone who is a GM for the company is that all expansions in Houston have been put on hold. They are opening some restuarants in other cities but they scaled their expansions WAY back.

  6. There is some confusion regarding which building we are talking about.

Buildings CCA1-3 and CCM1-2 were sold at least 2 years ago and they were supposed to be the UofH branch campus. However, that was fought by other nearby schools, namely Texas Prairie View that were afraid that UofH would take away from their enrollment. So the developer has been trying to sell/lease the buildings for some time. I believe they are the buildings that might have been rumored to sell again. This was the 44.5 acre redevelopment that started this thread.

CCA9-15 are being vacated, and will eventually be sold/leased. However, to my knowledge, several of those buildings still house HP employees and are not vacant at this time.

That leaves CCA4-8 and CCM3-8 as HP offices. They are expanding Parking garages 6 and 13 to eleviate the parking congestion.

U of H did buy CCA 1 -3 but were banned by the state in opening a satellite branch. Prarie View, Lonestar and A&M all said it would be unfair and would affect their enrollments and the state agreed. U of H now has that space up for sale or lease.

The space that is reportadly sold are all of the remaining buidings, CCA 9 - 15. The buyer is a rumored to be a large corporation with employees in the loop currently.

Man I think 8000 would be on the really high side! If you are talking strictly whats left of the campus there at Louetta and not all of Houston. There were only about 12k in the hey days and so many have been laid off or transferred out I would guess maybe a 1/4 were left if that... I dunno. Maybe someone can call the welcome center and find out.

8000 is about right. That includes the data center on Louetta/Cutten but all the buildings have been consolidated and many of the offices were gutted and buildings turned into cube farms, including senior management. Additionally, many employees work from home part of the time so the number fluctuates by day.

  7. You're absolutely right. They tried a regional concept called Disney Quest a few years ago and it failed miserably.

True but there are rumors that they are experimenting with areas much like Downtown Disney in Orlando...food, shopping and entertainment districts. There is one possibly being built in Frisco soon from what I hear. However, for years there were rumors that Disney bought the Texas Ren Fest property for a central US location of another theme park but that was just a bad rumor.
