  1. Does anyone know about anyone owning a Batmobile in the Humble area?? It's from the original (1960's?) series and looks just like the real thing!! I actually got a picture with my cell phone. One of my co-workers says he heard one had been sold to someone in the area. I Googled the topic, but didn't find too much about the location of the cars. Attached is the photo.

  2. First of all, there is no school district in this area is that is perfect -- they all offer both positive and negative unique issues. I'd have to say that Spring ISD has not done nothing to better the students, nor better the property owners that pay taxes by making DIVERSITY their number one priority and focus.

I know of people that intentionally moved into Spring ISD after reading all about the great things taking place there (puhleeze!) via online, and through biased marketing tools created by the district, and I do feel sorry for them.

We moved out of Spring ISD because of the high schools, and we don't for one second reqret the move. It was good for my kids' education, and it was good for our home value. Our kids grow up so fast, yet it goes by sooo slow when it's in a bad school setting!

  3. As a very concerned parent, my biggest gripe is what is truly happening to these teachers? How can a citizen find out what punishments are taking place? Who really knows if these teachers are being treated as they should be, receiving the sexual predator "label" added to their records, AND ultimately being prevented from teaching ever again? We've had teachers that *poof* disappeared at Klein Collins. Rumors were swirling before and after their disappearance, but absolutely nothing can be found online about that teacher!!? Are these districts prosecuting these teachers, or just quietly firing them? Regarding the latest at Westfield, the Chronicle has not had any follow up articles about her, or her appearance in court. Instead of printing and broadcasting over and over and over what she was caught doing, let's also be told about the consequences of her actions!!!

  4. Mmmmmm, I live at Cypresswood & 45; and work in Humble. I've eaten at SC BBQ in Atascocita numerous times. If they had a location close to my house, I would probably eat there several times a week!! Years ago I would frequent the Rib Tickler on 249 in Tomball, when it was a drive-thru/walk-up shack. They had super BBQ, but don't have any idea what it's like today.

I'd take SC BBQ ANY DAY over Rudy's (one yuck!!) and Pappa's BBQ (two yucks!!). I'm from Kansas City, MO -- home of the very best BBQ -- and Houston has awful BBQ, which is a real shame for us all. PLEASE SC BBQ, come to Spring or the Woodlands!!

  5. We lived in Memorial Chase from 1991 to 1996 and our house backed up the railroad tracks that cross over Spring Cypress (Old Louetta). As a potential home buyer how can you really determine if a RR Xing will bother you and/or adversely affect your lives in a particular house? Personally, I was never bothered by the trains. I'm a very good sleeper, which probably helps; and we do open our windows as we can with nice weather; I guess it's what you get used to .... and my kids were both under three when we bought that house. One of the pluses? We never had to worry about what might be built behind our home that would negatively affect our values; and we had a huge easement to play games on.

  6. Are you aware of the impending MAJOR water main construction on Cypresswood between Ella and Enchanted Oaks?? The North Harris County Regional Water Authority website shows Project 14A on their map (http://www.regionalwaterauthority.com/maps/2010_system/Authority-2010_System.pdf) that will lay 16" and 30" water mains along Cypresswood.

I wonder if it will be in resident's front yards, or will they tear up the road? And what about the gorgeous landscaping/trees that are along Cypresswood Drive? Anyone know anymore?

  7. As a resident of Spring/Woodlands area since 1979, I'm very concerned about and very annoyed by the awful traffic situation we've got in our area. We moved off of 1960/Ella back in 2002 to get away from that gawd-awful traffic, only to now experience the same at Cypresswood/Louetta @ 45. My biggest complaint is the speed in which people drive!! At nearly any time of the day, it's nearly impossible to pull out into traffice from the WalMart center on I-45 feeder. What are the powers that be thinking to post a speed limit of 50mph through there? Can a community complain enough, and/or go through a process that could get a speed limit reduced? I have never seen a police car ever give out any tickets, and/or sit and record the speed through that very dangerous stretch of roadway. There are so many times that a posted speed is way too high, or a road design is totally messed up and so poorly thought out ... I wonder who in the hell are they paying to do these jobs? Call me, I'll do a much better job for much less money!!

  8. I'd like to follow-up to my original post. A letter was created and sent to KCHS Principal, Randy Kirk; KCHS Registrar; and to the KISD Superintendent's office. I sent these letters anonymously, which probably took all creditability away, but I mentioned student's names and all particulars of how they lied to get enrolled at KCHS.

As of last week, the one student is still attending, and absolutely nothing has changed.

So, again I ask, do school districts even care if a student is attending their school illegally? And the answer seems to be ... No, not at all.

I guess there are different rules for different people.

  9. We are a KISD homeowner and taxpayer. We chose to move specifically to the Klein Collins attendance zone when it came time for my children to begin high school.

This is our fourth year, and the body of students has continued to increase drastically! My kids are constantly complaining of not being able to get food at lunch (lines too long), school bus is way too crowded, and the crowding in-between classes.

Personally we are aware of numerous students that have lied and/or faked paperwork to get registered to attend KCHS. My question is: what are school districts doing to enforce, or investigate this problem? Do they really care if a student is attending their school illegally? I realize they don't have the manpower to check out every student, but some type of safeguard has got to be in place. I know of a student faking a utility bill -- all while living in the Klein Forest zone, or another student completed a lease document with their friend that lived in the KC zone -- all while living in Spring ISD.

I understand that they want to attend KCHS for all the same reasons that we moved here. It would've been better for our family to stay in the home we moved from (in Spring ISD, Westfield HS), but we did the right thing, and it's very disheartening and frustrating when others totally lie and cheat to be there. I ask, why have attendance zones, if they're not enforced?

  10. My Bally's membership costs me $99/year, but I never, ever get there. Now that LA Fitness is so closeby, and more of a neighborhood facility, I go 4 - 5 times a week. And what's even better for me, is that they are open till midnight Mon - Thurs, and that's right up my alley!! I love it, and don't mind paying $32/month for brand new machines and weights, and a swimming pool that doesn't have fungus/mold growing everywhere. Thanks guys, I love it! :)

  11. We currently live in KISD and attend Klein Collins. I would have to suggest Klein Springs High School. Forget using Gleannloch, or Kohrville. I used to work for business located on Kohrville, and it was a complete pain in the rear to spell it constantly for callers, and those mailing something to us. Keep it simple, yet have some meaning, remember the kids that will attend and always remember the name and memories of their high school.

  12. I find this whole subject pretty interesting reading, yet also see it as a bit overwhelming for a single person to overcome and/or deal with. We lived in Ponderosa Forest from fall 1997 to summer 2003. We got a great deal on our home, we loved our home, and did enjoy the area amenities that 1960/45 offered close to home.

All three of our kids attended private religious school through 8th grade. When our oldest began high school, my husband did not want him attending Westfield. So he took him to Klein Oak, where his grandmother lived. That lasted just one semester, then my husband enrolled in him in Westfield. Those years went by so-so, but we did have a few serious problems with other students. When it came time for our next child to attend high school, I refused to send my daughter to Westfield -- I just knew she would be preyed upon by out of control students -- both boys and girls; and I wanted to lesson the trash my child would be exposed to in high school.

We moved out of PF only because of the schools.

My oldest daughter is now a junior at Klein Collins HS. Our school is not without fault, but we are very happy with the school, we love the neighborhood, and are actually so glad to not be on 1960 with the gawd-awful traffic! We were so happy to be out when it came time for high school, and I do have empathy for parents that either can't afford to move for whatever reason, or they feel it's their duty to stay and make it better for everyone.

But meanwhile, years are passing by and these kids are being exposed to the bad schools with all the out-of-control students, teachers that have no control and no authority, and all of the negative social behavior that is taking place in such large schools.
