I was recently sent a blooper clip of a commercial being recorded for a place called the Ice House (possibly Haus) that was open during the 70's when we had the WHA Houston Aeros.
It would have been in the Town & Country Village.
It sounded like an indoor ice-themed amusement and activity park.
Does anyone remember this place or have any info on it?

Edwards is actually not a Houston exclusive.
I think they had some locations throughout California and I found one in Idaho using a google search, but the part about them becoming part of Regal is correct.

That is the ClearChannel's plan. Make the radio so lousy so much that adults will migrate to satellite radio.
Contrary to popular belief, Clear Channel no longer has any interests in XM Radio.
They did hold some stock and provide some programming in the beginning, but let go all of their holdings sometime last year I think.
I don't have a link handy though.

Walton and Johnson were not the highest rated morning show in Houston when they were on KLOL.
I believe they were number though.
I think the number 1 morning show was that one on 102.9 with that Pepito guy.

I Think Urban will come back after rock leaves to 103.7.
I doubt it.
The format was too similar to Majic and they were not able to compete.
If they were going to bring it back, they wouldn't have taken it off in the first place.
They would have waited to launch the rock station until the new tower was ready.
Plus, they let all the old Power staff go.

The new station will start tomorrow at noon on 97.5

looks like that KLOL format change didn't do squat for ratings.
It's still too early to tell.
Part of those ratings still included the rock format.
There are a lot of listeners shuffling around right now with 92.1 and 101 starting recently, and it will take a little more time to see what effect it will have.
Give it a couple more books.
-
Umm..I don't think all of those stations will stay. They will just be shuffling around for a while.
Which stations are you referring to?
The new ones or some of the existing ones?

don't we already have plenty of urban stations?
majic 102, the box, party 104 and the station that took over KRTS...
Depends on your definition of "enough"
The Box and Party play similar things and compete to each other, but Majic is comepletely different since they go for an older crowd.
The company that took over KRTS may be the same company that own Majic and The Box, but the new station on 92.1 is not urban so that leaves us with 3.
When Cumulus gets both 97.5 and 103.7 going, we are expected to have 4 rock stations in town.
Would you say that's too many?

They have been new since about 1992.
They switched from top 40 93Q in late 1991 I think to 92.9 Easy Country and changed to The New 93Q soon after.
They will probably call themselve The New 93Q for as long as they are around.

It's pretty interesting to compare what Houston radio listeners actually want to hear vs. what stations like 94.5 actually play.
The Request a thon was probably the only time we'll ever get to hear local bands being played on a station other than KTRU.
KPFT also plays some local music.
There's also the Texas Buzz on Sunday nights.

I've been copying the playlist from their website all day.
There are some holes, but most of it is there.

From late yesterday afternoon up to now, I haven't been able to access the radio-info site.
Does anyone here who reads those boards know whats going on?
-
"102 JAMZ" never really existed; it was just a made up radio station for the 1994 movie filmed here, "Jason's Lyric."
Are you sure about that?
I believe I remember there being a 102 jamz being around for a little while playing much of the same stuff the box did.
I dont think it lasted very long though.
-
They haven't changed yet, but I believe they intend to.
Just not able to compete with Magic.
Right now they are running automated and jockless and that will probably last until sometime in February.
There are rumors of a rock station starting up either on 97.5 or on 103.7 when they are ready to sign that on.
No one really knows for sure what the format of either station will be though.

I have it at home, but I'll try to remember to do it tonight.
How do I post the clip here?
Can I upload it somehow or do I need to have it hosted somewhere and link to it?
