  1. I rode the DART for the first time and it was a great experience. We jumped on the red line at the Parker Road station in north Plano and stopped at Mockingbird Station and City Place. From there we got on the free M-Line that goes through west village and McKinney avenue. We stopped a few times along the way, twice to shop and another time to eat a big greasy hamburger at Jake's. We then got back on the M-line and it took us all the way to the St. Paul dart station in downtown. Did I mention the M-line is free? From there we went to West End and then transfer to the Victory Park train. It was really cool getting off the train and being 150 yards away from the AAC. Then reality set in that we didn't have tickets for the game that night but we walked around victory park (it like a mini times square) until we couldn't stand the cold and got back on the red line back to Plano.

All that for $2.50 a person for an all day pass.

  2. Or that the Cowboys were playing the Giants, the #1 media market in the world. Don't brag too much, that record will be broken this season.

Moderators - Could we create a new thread on the Cowboys? Many of the responses have little to do with the Texans 2006 season.

    Thanks!

The giants don't have that big of a following. In fact, I was at the Monday night game and there were almost as many Texans fans last week as there were Giants fans Monday.

Bye the way, the first part of my response, that you left out, did in fact include Texans talk.

  3. The Fort Worth Star Telegram is reporting that Romo will be named the starting QB for the Carolina game. Could he be the next Tom Brady or the next bust?

Bye the way, I was at the Cowboys/Texans game 2 weeks ago and I disagree with some of comments about the number Texans fans at the game. I sat in section 36, which is endzone lower level seating, and I counted maybe 20 Texans fans out of about 10 sections that I could clearly see. There was a group of losers...I mean Texans fans sitting by the Texans tunnel which accounted for about 8 of the 20. One guy even took off his Texans jersey and put on a cowboys t-shirt midway through the 3rd quarter.

According to sources the Cowboys/Giants Monday night game was the most watched event in cable history. Its estimated that over 11.6 million homes watched the game.

This again proves that the Cowboys will always be America's Team...

  4. Don't make the mistake of putting the stadium in the suburbs like FC Dallas did. The new stadium is by far the nicest stadium in the MLS but its on the opposite end of the earth from the latino fans in the south Dallas area. You can forget about Fort Worth people going to game. It would take a least an hour to drive out to Frisco from cowtown.

In my opinion, which means absolutely nothing, they should have put the stadium in Arlington with Jerry World and The Ballpark.

  5. Just watched the Mizzou/A&M game. I noticed a lot of empty seats in the upper level seats on the north end. Very weak for a big time conference game.

Bye the way, UT is only allowed a certain amount of student tickets each year. The is reason is because UT sells more season tickets to their alumni each year than most programs. Unlike the Aggies, UT fans show up for every game not just the in state rival games.

  6. Was there ever a Tortuga Mexican Restaurant located inside one of Bert Wheeler's motels?  Thought I remember one of those old black & white documentaries about historic Houston and they showed a Mexican restaurant named Tortuga and it was somewhere a long South Main Street.

Looking at both of Bert Wheeler's motels, by his company Palmetto Corporation, had both the Las Vegas Motor Hotel at 9604 South Main St. and the Twenty Nine Palms Motor Hotel at 9430 South Main St.

Which one of those hotels was the Tortuga Mexican Restaurant located? I am going to guess it was located in the 9604 South Main Street location.

  7. The point being that Cowboys fans are living on past laurels....like 10, 20, 30 years in the past.

Hey, here's some Cowboy trivia for ya. Did you know that in the last TWENTY years, the Cowboys have 3 Super Bowl trophies AND A LOSING RECORD? Now, that's something to brag about!

No, the point is that the Cowboys have 5 superbowls the Texans 0.

So you are telling me that you would rather have 0 superbowls wins and a winning record?

  8. Just one.

Why are you still living in the past? Is that a Dallas thing?

Whoops, that was two. Just answer the first one.

Not living in the past, just proving a point. You obviously have a hard time understanding that.

  9. seriously As far as signs the

    Texans are turning it around.

    1) David Carr playing well in the new system.

    2) Eric moulds and Andre johnson, finally a number 2 reciever.

    3) A good defensive game last game against Miami.

    4) DeMeco Ryans looking like a good player to streghen our run defense.

    5) Hope based on the new system and coaching and Mario Williams

6+)our coach doesn't need a BRA!!!seriously he's built like an old british woman...what's up with that?

I wouldn't say they took care of Miami but a win is a win. David Carr can only do so much without a good offensive line. You still need a running game and I don't think Ron "Another Heisman Bust" Dayne is the answer. Where is Reggie Bush when you need him???

I completely agree with you about Parcells. The nickname "The Tuna" really fits him well. Where is Jimmy Johnson when you need him...

  10. Let's see, the Cowboys haven't won a playoff game in 10 years. The Texans haven't won a playoff game in 4 years. I like the Texans chances of not going another 6 years without a playoff win!

And what are you basing your conclusion on? I don't see any signs that the Texans are turning things around.

  11. In the words of the Million Dollar Man, Ted Dibiase...

    " :lol::lol::lol: BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH :lol: ......BWWAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA :lol::lol::lol: "

    4,5,7,2

This is the total number of wins for each year the Texans have been in the league. Now that is something to laugh outloud about...:lol:

  12. So what you're saying is that regardless of how advanced the Cowboys are, the Texans will end up kicking the Cowboys' ass?!

Wow, I know you can't be that dumb.

    Dallas wins 31-3

Hey, the only reason the NFL won't allow a team in San Antonio is because Houston would want a pro team aslo....

  13. Let's compare the 2 teams...feel free to chime in.

Dallas O-Line vs Houston D-Line: Advantage Cowboys

Dallas is 7th in the league in rushing.

Dallas Running Game vs Houston Defense: Advantage Cowboys

Julius Jones is having a good year so far(5th in NFL rushing) and Marion Barber adds another dimension to the running game.

Dallas Passing Game vs Houston Pass Defense: Advantage Cowboys

Texans are tied for last place in interception. Dallas just has too many weapons in their passing game.

Houston Running Game vs Dallas Defense: Advantage Cowboys

Houston is second to last in the NFL in rushing.

Houston Passing Game vs Dallas Secondary: Slight edge to the Cowboys

Although David Carr will hook up with Andre Johnson for a few plays, I believe the dallas pass rush will be all over Carr. Also, Dallas has 2 very good corners and the Houston passing game just doesn't have that many weapons.

Houston O-line vs Dallas D-line: Advantage Dallas

The banged up Houston O-line has given up alot of sacks this year and the Dallas D-line is very athletic and physical.

    Kicking Game: Advantage Houston

Don't even get me started with Mike Vandershank

  14. How do you guys see the Cowboys Texans match up. They faired about the same against Philly as we did.

Are you serious? The Cowboys had 6 turnovers in this game and still had a chance to win in the end. Dallas will bounce back and win big over the Texans. Houston will be lucky to sniff the endzone against the Dallas defense.
