That underpass needs pressure washing badly!

I think we should build more trails like this in utility corridors. It always seemed like a no brainer to me.

Why is there so much clay in the ground here?

I heard that 4014 "Big Boy" is returning to Houston this year.

My understanding is that Westheimer is off-limits because it is a Farm-to-Market, so TXDoT controls the ROW. Would love to be wrong about that.
Is there any way to transfer it to city control, or else convince the state to allow light rail on it?

Maybe now that there are noises about Allen Parkway being pedestrianized, the train could go down there, then north and south along Shepherd. It's not much, but it would be a start.
Considering the perceived temperament of people in the Heights, I'm really surprised they haven't been clamoring for light rail.
I live in the Heights and would love this, but I am worried the new mayor might shoot it down.

What benefits would bringing back more oysters give?
Slightly unrelated, but I have seen people claim that there were written accounts of the bay the 1800s that describe huge mounds and reefs of oysters that even sometimes stuck out of the water.

A little bit late, but I would kill to have her as mayor here.

Unfortunately, TxDOT is legally required to spend 97% of its funding on road projects. Maybe we would've seen commuter rail or (better) intercity rail if that wasn't the case, but for now, TxDOT's gonna TxDOT.
Wtf. How do we go about changing that?

All these suburban proposals should be commuter rail IMO.

The Union Pacific tracks were actually part of the first railroad in the state of Texas.

The only good thing that TXDOT has done in Houston for a long as I have known!

Does anyone know how to convince R's to support trains?

Does anyone want to add the information from this thread into the Wikipedia article?

Can we rename the park to murky creek park? The creek is anything but clear.

I wonder how old that brick is.

I've always wondered about the metal plates at the end of the Brays Bayou bridge on Holcombe Blvd. Was there a whole different bridge at one point? The metal plating looks relatively new.
I also found a detail on a 1930s map. I wonder if the same bridge has been in operation for 90 years?
The metal plates are thermal expansion joints for the concrete. I also know the bridge would not be 30 years old as all the bridges over the bayous that got straightened and concreted had to be replaced.

Can we have more trees and vegetation along the bayou banks and less concrete and metal pilings? Or is flood control and erosion more important than trees (whose roots can actually help prevent erosion) and nature?
And any way to have green bayous as opposed to brown would be nice too.

I think the problem with the 82 is that it's a state FM road, so neither Metro nor COH has the authority to alter the ROW configuration? (Somebody please correct me if I've got that wrong!)
What would be the process to get the road into city control?

I think some of y'all should read this information before you start talking about the brown water in this region:

I just always get annoyed when people criticize the *good* actors for not doing enough when the real problem *cough*TXDOT*cough* is standing right there.
What can we do about TXDOT? We were not even able to stop the 45 project.

Can we do this to White Oak or Brays Bayou next? I know it would be harder because those bayous are concrete-lined.

For what it's worth, Galveston did at about the same time as well and later in the month. The prolonged lack of significant rains/runoff contributed to that at least locally.
I forgot to mention that I went to Galveston during late June (The same time that the Corpus photos were taken) and the water was clear.

Why does the blue water not come all the way to the sand right now like it did in June?

Hey, you can build transit with concrete too.
