I hadn't heard anything. Where'd you hear that?

I heard it from one of the most active realtors in the area. She wasn't thrilled about it, to put it mildly.

Any new information on the prospective development of the golf course? I heard they're going to plat 5000 SF lots in the north golf course. Is that true? How can they when there is still ongoing litigation to block development?

Reply: Well, I think the architecture in the Inwood neighborhoods is really cool. The houses look so much more interesting than the cookie-cutter stuff you see in other low-cost neighborhoods. I don't understand why people aren't flocking to them. I know. . . the threat of crime, but unless the crime impacts the residents directly, where's the problem?

I don't have kids, I have to admit.

So what is the latest update on Inwood Forest house prices and livability? Has closing the golf course had the effect of causing a drastic downturn? Is there any hope the golf course can be reopened? What is the litigation aiming to accomplish?

And now, I live in Inwood. I'm still in one of "the worst" neighborhoods, even though I could afford to live almost anywhere in Houston. Funny how that has worked out.

Are you able to say honestly that IF is a good place to live? Would you recommend it to someone just moving to Houston? Do you ever worry that someone will just step up and kill you? Please explain what you like most about IF and why you choose it over other fine neighborhoods.

Hello. Just wanted to add my two cents in the Inwood Forest discussion.

Compared to what I had seen in the other neighborhoods, I was amazed. It seemed to be a great value to have all this space and be able to look out the "wall of windows" in the living room of a custom-built home (1978) and instead of seeing the ubiquitous 6' privacy fence that boxes in just about every back yard in Houston, to have the lovely pool, the green open spaces of the fairway and friendly, smiling golfers waving as they wiz by in thier golf carts.

I am considering moving to Houston, and I asked my sister, who lives north of Westheimer, about 1.5 miles west of downtown, whether I should buy a wonderful-appearing house in IF, on the golf course, with a pool, with interesting architecture. She responded the neighborhood is in free-fall because of crime spreading from adjacent apartment neighborhoods, and that the golf course is deteriorating and probably about to fail. Does everyone agree with this?

Are gay people really moving in? That would be a plus for me.

How bad is the crime, really? Is it a myth or does it affect regular people? I don't like guns pointed at me, and I want to live another day.
