When I was driving by the lot yesterday I noticed they put up a sign for the new construction. The new name will be The Fairmont on San Felipe, and I found this information about it on their website here.
On the pdf file it gives the basic layout of the retail and residential in the back of the property. I wonder if the dry cleaners and gas station on the corner will continue to operate, or if they will remove them also?

I believe this is the irregular window you were referring to. I also attended the GHPA walking tour in January and enjoyed it immensely.

Here is a night pic of the Gulf I took during the World Series games, sorry I haven't edited it yet.

Nice pictures!
I believe the fourth photo is of the old Bergstrom Grocery store in the 2100 Block of Hardy St. Wouldn't this be one of the teardowns when they extend the Hardy Toll Road into downtown?
I make the trip down Hardy St. a few days a week when traffic is bad and have always liked that building.

I have lived in the Mark for a while now and have enjoyed it for the most part, granted I've been a renting a unit so I can't give you any advice from a homeowner

The first one is the Bob Smith fountain on Smith St. near the old Enron buildings. In the background is the Hyatt Hotel parking garage.
The second is a view looking east on Smith St. of the walkover for the old Enron buildings. Nice pictures!

I have dish network with the German package, it includes ARD, ZDF, Deutsche Welle, and Prosieben. The only BBC channel I get is BBC America. They have Russian programming, but it is an extra charge. I think they are around $20 or so each.
Also I pay monthly through the internet. Hope this helps.

I doubt they will be back to back, the open lot is on the east side of the current buildining. All of the renderings I have seen show them side to side.
I have a south view living in The Mark and its not as exciting as the north views, I'm sure if they are going to sell for those prices they are going to be north facing units.

I believe it's going to be a new Hilton hotel.

Unfourtunaltly I had to hear that song and lots of others by him over the years growing up. Lou Monte was often called the "King of Italian American Hit Records".
As far as the satellite radio, I own XM. I spend all day driving so I get pleanty of use out of it. I like the programming and the hardware over Sirrius, but thats just me. Both companies offer numerous plug and play devices for your car, and I believe that XM is now offering a walkman style device that will work almost anywhere.

I switched to satellite radio a year ago after getting tired of the endless commercials and sorry morning shows. I enjoyed listening to 790 from time to time when I wanted to hear something local, but I guess now that its gone there's no real reason to turn the XM off.
LarryDallas: The Italian song you refered to was most likely a song from Lou Monte called "Dominic the Donkey".

The shopping center around the corner on Voss north of San Felipe seems to have landed some decent tenants including Pei Wei and Jamba Juice among others.
I hope they land something other than the standard Houston strip center occupants. But whatever it is, it beats the old apartment currently being torn down.
